    Need Some Advice Here!

Now that I work from a home office I have a problem of sorts. It is so hard to type and change diskettes and all the other things I need to do with 11 lbs. of purring cat on my lap!

(I suppose it could be worse --- Eddie is over 15 lbs. now )

    Any suggestions????

You're lucky you can work from home... I wish I could! But then again, I would never get any work done! Samantha will come nudge your arm when you're at the computer until you come play with her.

Count your blessings, Sara. Could be 11 lbs of hissing spitting cat like she was not too long ago.

I know what you mean though, you just hate to move too much so you don't disturb them, but in the meantime you just get nothing done.

Reminds me of when we found kittens in our storage area here at work. As soon as they were big enough to be away from momma, I kept them in the office with me all day to socialize them. There were 3 of them, I couldn't get much of anything done when they decided their favorite place to nap was right on my desk, on top of all my papers. One of these days I'm just going to have to dig out those pics and get them scanned. But boss, she was napping, what was I to do?

    An additional chair

What I have done in the past, with a former kitty, was to pull a chair up next to mine so that Mandy (an aby, of course) would be next to me but not ON my lap or near the keyboard. She was happy with that arrangement. My two kitties like to watch me type, but leave me alone for the most part. Miley likes to hang out on the monitor but that is about the extent of it. I hope to get a thin monitor some day, but know that it will not make Miley a happy camper.

I vote for additional seating in the office!

Perhaps you could improve your work ethic a little bit more? With some proper strength training, some stretches to improve your flexibility, a larger lap, more table space...and your problems would be solved.

Why! Why! Why! can't these people look at things from a cat's perspective?

When you figure it out let me know how solved it. I'll need to try it.

I can't do anything around here with out my little monkey kitten climbing all over me. I feel like a scratching post sometimes. She has to make her way up to my neck some way.

I am getting better at typing one handed though. Although I do have to redo a lot of it later. Thanks god for kitty naps. Get all the work you can done during naps.

Tigris is fine if he lies on a blanket on my desk. I think I could also propose Sallyanne's solution to him.

But Filou: when he thinks he must walk over the keyboard then you have to accept the innovative free style lyrics he writes

Sara, 11 lbs. on your lap is a bit much while working, but be happy she's not 7,5 kg. like Fister! I agree that a blanket on your desk or a chair close to you is an excellent idea, that way Edwina can still supervise.

Fister never sits on the lab, but he certainly knows which papers next to the keyboard are important - and sits on them!

I used to feel that way about the Late Mr. Scrappy , when he used to lie on my chestand purr and knead my chin. Eventually i would have to put him down on the floor , especially as he got heavier. But now he has been gone for 3 years and I would give anything to have him on my chest , purring about how much that he loved me!

I have a special chair next to mine as well. Works pretty well but doesn't help when either Emmitt or Moon feel like kneading bisquits against my leg OUCH that was Moon as we speak! ouch, she just got insulted and is now using MY leg as a scratching post. Dang, guess I'll put some more crunchies down for her. Sorry Sara, guess we're not much help here.

    I work from home too.
My cats aren't really lap cats, but I need plenty of shelf and table area so they can supervise me.

My biggest problem....how to get them to stop shredding my paperwork (outside of actually filing it away in a timely manner)?
The excuse of "my cat ate it" doesn't fly too well.
