This should be considered an emergency situation. Thousands upon thousands of animals' lives will be destroyed if this ban is put in place as early as the end of August. I cannot stress the importance of this message. Please, please, PLEASE write and call and do what you can, offer any advice you can, and help us get this ban stopped before it is too late!!!

Please read the ban in its entirety. The following info was gleaned from a list I'm on:

"I urge everyone (especially Chicago residents but also anyone else) to write these two Aldermen and voice your displeasure. A letter is most effective, followed by a phone call and least effective (but still useful) are emails. Also, City of Chicago residents should also write their particular Alderman. Visit
    http://www.chicityclerk.com/citycoun...rman/find.html to find your Alderman.

I am providing the contact info for the sponsoring Aldermen.

THANK YOU for pointing this out! I don't know how I missed it on goosemoose! I am so upset! If a law like this were to spread to CA, I would have to give up my Hoggie because, technically, she is venomous. My rats? I would NEVER give up any of my animals. E-mails and hopefully snail mails on the way.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Thank you very much for pointing this out to us. I will be drafting up a few letters to send off tonight...

This happened in New York City a while ago, and despite all the objections and people voiciferously opposing it, it still went through. It is now illegal to own any pets besides cats or dogs in the 5 boroughs of NYC.

So many animals have lost their lives over this - iguanas have been found abandoned in Central Park, etc..

It's sickening and it has to be stopped. I'll do all I can, and I will let all of my other friends with reptiles know about this.

Thanks for the heads up. If I'm reading that correctly, ferrets are included in the ban. I just cross posted that to a ferret message board I frequent to see if they know more.

Thank you everyone so much! Even Bengal cats are being considered as they are the result of hybrids. I LOVE my tortoise, hedgie, gecko, EVERYONE! I DO NOT WANT THIS TO SPREAD! Thousands of animals lives will be taken, they WILL be euthanized!

Yes ChinaDoll, Ferrets are included. To me a hamster is more likely to bite someone than a ferret!

Please people, we need your help. Write or email them today! I know there are several people on here with parrots, ferrets, RATS! If this bill passes these animals will die. If it passes, there is a chance that next week the bill will be in YOUR state!
