    Strep throat and dogs

Does anyone know if dogs can get strep throat or carry it? I had come down with strep throat over the weekend and I had heard that dogs can get it. I don't want any of my babies, fur or skin, to have to endure it.

I've had strep throat before and I've never had any of my dogs get sick after I was sick with it.

Nebo did get a sore throat when he was a puppy, but I don't know if it was strep.

I hope you're feeling better now

I don't know, but I don't think dogs can get it. My brother had strep a few times this year, and they dogs were fine. I had a bad cold last fall, and the dogs were fine. And just this week, my husband and I both were sick--sore throat, sneezing, chills, all that fun stuff--and all of the dogs are good!!

PS--I just checked out your photo albums--gorgeous dogs!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for responding. I was wondering becaue I came down with strep throat Friday, after dealing with a stray Thursday. I didn't realize it was strep throat until I went to the hospital Sunday after half my throat swelled and my fever reached 103.7. Talk about feeling like crap. Thank God for antibiotics.

lovemyshiba, thanks for the compliments on my furbabies.

One other thing I forgot to add (which has nothing to do with dogs)--you're not too far from me, and EVERYONE here has been getting very sick lately. I was sick on Tuesday, and another girl from work was sick later in the week, with a temp of almost 104--I sure hope the dogs can't get it!!

Strep...ugh...what fun...i just got over it my self...I wasnt going to go into the hopspital but Im glad I did, it takes forever to go away untreated, and it spreads to your legs and what not...Ive never heard of it spreading to dogs though...

Dogs can get strep throat, but i'm not sure if they can get it from humans. I know that rats can get it from humans. You should look it up somewhere, like www.google.ca
    I've been BOO'd!
