Oz and I had our last beginner’s agility class last night. And boy was he wild last night. We were doing some sequencing and he was suppose to go through the tunnel then over the A-Frame. Well he bypassed the tunnel and circled the A-Frame. The trainer told me to call my dog. So I called Oz to me, not thinking about me being on the other side of the tunnel from him. And sure enough, he took the shortest path to me, scrabbling over the top of the tunnel to me. Couldn’t help but laugh at him and tell him “good boy” for such a wonderful “Come”.
Planning to try again, I called him to come with me around the A-Frame to the start of the tunnel. I turned and took my eyes off him and started jogging towards the tunnel. He came barreling up behind me, clipped the back of my legs and swept my legs right out from under me. I’m not sure if he was trying to herd me or beat me to the tunnel entrance. I’m gonna assume trying to race me to the tunnel, because tackling the sheep doesn’t seem like a very practical herding technique.
Anywho, since it was the last class, I took some pictures of Oz’s agility buddies. Here’s Abbey the Cairn. I think Oz was the only dog she didn’t growl at, at least once. She’s such a character. She was definitely my favorite.
Here’s Sadie the poodle, Oz’s favorite. They really got along well. Her handler was telling me that her mom, mentioned Oz’s name one day and Sadie got all excited.
Here’s Macey the Aussie.
Here’s Sissy the Sheltie:
Here’s Sasha (not sure, but I think she’s a border collie/lab mix):
And Finally Shelby the Lab Mix:
