    Elvis Has Surgery On Thursday*UPDATED*

Hi guys. Well, I finally had to bite the bullet and schedule Elvis' surgery for Thursday. He has a growth on his ear that the vet suspects may be squamous cell carcinoma. Because of where's it's located, it's impossible to just take a biopsy and I made the difficult decision to have his ear amputated. Elvis is an all white kitty and it's quite common for them to get cancer on the ears from sunburn. With his seizure disorder anesthesia is really tricky for him. That's one of the reasons I've decided to just have them take the whole ear off. If they can get clean margins, then it's totally curable and I don't want him to go under again. I have complete faith in his vet...he's the best. He's going to put a pain patch on him the night before, use special anesthesia with extra techs there to supervise and if he's doing ok, then they're going to clean his teeth. If not, we'll scrap the teeth and worry about that later. He's going to get good pain meds afterwards also, but he will have to spend the night which is fine with me. He'll be able to rest better there where it's more quiet. *sigh* Poor Elvis.

    *UPDATE*
The vet just called me and said that everything went well. Yay! I was soooo worried. They were able to do his dental work and he had to have a tooth pulled. They gave him some morphine and said he was resting quietly. I decided to leave him there overnight so that he could be nice a quiet. *sigh* Thta's a load off my mind. I'll pick him up tomorrow morning.

Today is Thursday. How did the surgery go??
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

It's good to hear all went well. Was his ear amputated? Was it cancerous?
