    Have your dogs shed yet?

Jake hasn't shed yet this spring, and he didn't shed in the fall either! Talk about fluffy, heavy coat - everybody keeps telling me I have a "very chubby dog", but under that fur he's actually quite fit! Have your dogs shed yet this year?

Yeh I just noticed the other day that my Collie is shedding.
I patted him on the side the other day and a cloud of hair
poofed off of him. This is my first experience with a dog that
noticably sheds, because my 2 Cairns have wirey hair. My Collie's
a Smooth, so I can only imagine how much worse it is, if it's a
    Rough.

When Jake sheds, I fill a paper grocery bag 3/4 full of fur every time I brush him! I'm still only getting a handful.

I see you're in Michigan, so maybe it's not warm enough yet up
there. I've a friend from MI and she was telling it was snowing
up in the UP today. Which is mind boggling to me, since it's
been consistently in the 80s for a few weeks now here in Texas.

Yeah - I use Jake as my weatherman. If he sheds, I know spring is on the way! It's April 21 and he hasn't shed yet - doesn't sound like good news!!

German Shepherds blow coat 12 months a year so I hardly notice when spring shedding starts. I did start giving them fish oil and flax seed oil early this spring which helped quite a bit with the shedding. Not quite as many hairballs laying around anyway!

Well, Abbey, my beagle, has been shedding all winter--her hair is all over the place!!!
But Kito is the one who really sheds a lot--he blew his coat in the fall, but another Shiba owner told us that the spring is when they really explode!!! He has started a little, but nothing compared to the fall--I guess it's not springtime yet here

    Oh brother!!!
Sheba has been blowing coat for a month.
I got most of her undercoat out, but she is
    still shedding oodles of fur.
Rocky is just shedding little tufts here and their.
(He is not a big shedder and Pepper hardly sheds.)

Smokey has been shedding for about 3 weeks. The more I
brushed the more he shed.It was very soft baby fuzz & it went
everywhere. Tried brushing him outside & when the wind would
blow the hair, Smokey chased & caught it in his mouth.
Finally took him in for a "professional" wash & brush. He looks
so much better & he smells so good. He's still shedding a little
but at least I can keep it under control better now.

Same goes for Huney, she's leaving fur balls all over the place! And that fine baby fuzz, it's the pits!! I think I could just brush her forever
Thankfully Roxey isn't blowing her coat yet (don't understand why though)! I guess one at a time is enough!

Maybe they've decided to take turns! They wouldn't want to overwhelm you with fur!

I had to poke around under Jake's fur just to make sure he was still in there!

Sometimes when he sheds I put some of the fur out in the yard. The birds use it when they're building their nests - isn't that neat!

We still find Keisha's (our RB chow) fur in some of the bird houses around here, and she's been gone for 2 1/2 yrs now! I think it's awesome that they can use it. I try to always brush the dogs outside (not so messy in the house that way either!).

That is so neat! I was really shocked the first time I found out the birds used it - I thought they'd be able to smell the dog and it would scare them, but then somebody told me birds can't smell.

I've never had a shedding dog before...so Nebo is my first.

I'm *guessing* that he's blowing his coat right now. I normally take him to work about once a month...and just blow his coat out with the high pressure dryer, as well as just brush him like crazy...about every other month I give him a good bath too. This all helps get rid of all that fur!

I noticed the last time I took him (about 2 weeks ago) I got about twice the amount of fur that I usually get out...and I'm getting tons when I brush him at home...so I'm thinking he's blowing his coat right now.

I know when it's time to take him to work...I'll see tiny clumps forming on his legs, and they drive me nuts!
