Need suggestions for a dog treat

We have all these bones lying around, that the dogs have chewed and chewed. I think they are femur bones... they are anywhere from 5-7 inches long, and like a tube... they are hollow in the middle.

I'm not much of a cook! What I'd like to do, is come up with some sort of filling, or stuffing to stuff the bones with, and then freeze them. Sort of like doggy popsicles....

I was thinking rice, and a low sodium broth... maybe some veggies.... or boiled ground beef.... the less messier the better....

Any suggestions???? They only other use for them that I can think of is some sort of bizarre prehistoric looking windchime!!!

Hi Annie, I thought some of the people on here stuff some of the toys with peanut butter and their dogs go crazy over them, roll them around and try to get it out.
I tried one of those toys with Daisy and Perry, I put some of their dry dog food in it, they were lazy wouldn't roll it around, waited for me to do it for them, then Daisy decided to guard the toy and wouldn't let Perry near it so I gave up.

Hi Annie! I have one of the hollow leg bones you described, but it came stuffed with a peanut-butter flavored filling. Daisy loves it and will sit playing with it and licking the stuff out for hours. It's not messy either; the filling is a strange hard consistency. I think I got it at Petco. It's one of Daisy's favorite toys. Try it out, it sounds perfect for your dogs.

I have those same bones for my dogs. What I do is plug one side of the bone with peanutbutter. Then I place the bone in a bowl with the peanutbutter side on the bottom.(the bone is standing so the plugged side is down and the open end is up) then I fill it with chicken or beef broth(it wont leak because the peanutbutter blocks it) and freeze it. Wait a coaple of hours and serve. my dogs love them.

You can get some great ideas on the kong site. http://www.kongcompany.com
You can take some canned dog food, mix it with dry food and stuff it in the bone and freeze it, or add cheese or Peanut butter. I would suggest serving them on lineolum or outside as PB can be messy!!!!!!
