I never have bred dogs and never will.

I have known a few people who have bred before. I know we need some breeders, but blah! I don't see how some people can keep breeding and breeding and breeding when so many dogs are dying every day in shelters.

Yes, I agree. I believe that there should be a liscence for breeding, and only dogs with good bloodlines should be bred.

I breed cocker spaniels, only once a year for each female, you don't want to breed them twice a year, the need time to recover. If you didn't have breeders, where would you get your AKC/CKC dogs? We have an acre, no kennels, and more often than not, the dogs are on the couch and we are sitting on the floor..they run the house and they know it. If you love the dogs, it makes all the difference in the world. =)

    I breed cocker spaniels,
My parent bred cockers befor to, we bred our cocker *Candy Kisses* only once because she had pups all over the house and she killed all of them but 2. She didnt mean to kill them, she tryed to eat the plasenta but ate the pup as well. She refused to breast feed the two survuving pups as well. She was such an idiot. So my dad and my mom were always up every 20 min feeding the pups, they were on a heat pad and were always needing to be kept warm. we kept the black one. ONLY a black and a golden pup survived out of 14 pups. . poor things.

We gave the blond one tot he studs owner and kept the black one. we gave Candy Kisses away because we couldent train her to be near to obedient or house trained. but we kept the black pup for 5 years his name was Pepper. He was a sweety, very cute, but was dum as a door nob, he would always pee and poop in the house and would ALWAYS run away, we tryed EVERYTHING to trein him, even obedience classes. Nothing worked, so we gave him away to. lol.

I am NEVER getting a Cocker, EVER!!!!!! My family has had such bad luck with them

"If you didn't have breeders, where would you get your AKC/CKC dogs"

just got mine a few months ago from the local Doberman rescue.

Not against all breeders, just the ones that contribute freely to the rescue programs.

Come to think of it though, I got my full blooded Doberman boy from my local Dobe rescue for at least half the cost a breeder would have charged me (tongue in cheek irony)

fernmoney, in no way am I implying that you are that type of breeder...in fact you sound like you love your dogs...we need more breeders like that and none of the other kind!
