Beautiful pictures Souraya!! I would love to see more! (Hint hint!) Lebanon is beautiful. I'm curious though, there are no cars in Beirut? It looks like a city made for walking rather than driving...And it doesn't look crowded either..not many people on the streets... Where in Lebanon did you grow up? And what language did you speak in high school? English?
I'm so glad you posted the pictures! I've been dying to see them!

Oh Souraya! The pictures are gorgeous!!! Looks like you had beautiful weather for your trip.

And I agree with Jenn, there is no one on the streets! And I actually like it that way if I'm trying to admire the scenery.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

The pictures I posted are in a section of Beirut that you can't drive in! There are parking lots around the streets and sqaure. It is about a 1 mile diameter area. Beirut is very crowded and there are more cars than there are people. It just seems like most of my pictures didn't capture all the cars and people. I felt retarded taking pictures of the town since I grew up there. But I took some to share with you guys and Andrew.

Jennifer, I spoke English, Arabic, and French in high school.

I will try to post more pictures when I have more time to sort through tem

Here is one of me while I was on a picnic with my cousins. I am drinking traditional Arabic coffee (although I don't normally drink coffee) and smoking an Arabic Tobacco pipe (silly me!)

    Souraya,

The pictures are all very good. I loved the overview of the
villages & the Med sea. Fantastic. The views of the shops
and sidewalk cafes makes me want to visit too. Beautiful.
As for the tobacco pipe, hope you didn't inhale.LOL. I used
to see those pipes in movie scenes & wondered if it was really
tobacco they smoked, or "wacky tabacky". LOL. Great pics,
post more if you have time. It's good to have you back.

I've always heard Beirut referred to as "the Paris of the Middle East." Your photos certainly prove that fact! Gorgeous!

Souraya, Rachel (my school room mate) and I have decided that you need to go into modeling and we officially hate you because you are simply stunning! We both also agree that Lebanon has some gorgeous scenery. Very impressive.

Welcome back.... will Drake even leave your side yet Beirut looks very cosmopolitan, emaculately clean and with breath-taking views. You and your friends must have given the "locals" sore necks by staring after you all as you walked by More pictures please but please include one (or more) of Drake.... I'm going through Drake withdrawls

WOW! Those are really nice pics Souraya! Looks like you had a great time! From the pictures, Lebanon looks kind of different from the other Arab countries I've been to, but it does have similarities as well! I love the Pigeon Rock and Mosque pictures. Your family and friends must have been happy to see you!
So how did it feel to be back there? I too was shocked to see pics without cars because I had always assumed Lebanon to be full of cars like other Middle Eastern countries. Guess it was just the pics.
Just wondering, is the traffic funny there? Like, does the whole street honk when the traffic light turns green, and do people drive like maniacs? I know people drive like that in Pakistan.
Anyway, great pics and thanks for sharing! Can we see more? PLEASE

Oh and one more thing. How was the weather there? I assume it must have been great at this time of the year and by looking at the pics, but I'm just wondering. Does it get really hot there?

Sorry about all my silly questions.

    Popcornbird,

People in Beirut drive like maniacs! A 2 lane road almost always has 3 lanes of cars driving down it. People cut in front of you all the time and try to squeeze in the tightest spaces. People will only stop at a red light if there is another car coming. Oh and everyone goes down the street against the flow of traffic. It is crazy!

The weather there is warm year round execpt for a month of rain in January. And th weather was nice while I was there except for a few days.
