Finney's smell!

I have a question to ask about dog smell. Finney smells very bad. You can't smell it in the house at all, but when you really rub him( which Im always doing because he loves it, like any dog) your fingers come off smelling sooooo bad. I know that dog's have a smell, and Im fine with that. But is there anyway to mask it a little without giving him so many baths?I bath him about 1 ever one or two months. I know this is a lot. At least I think. Is that really a lot of baths for a dog? I know they can dry his skin out. My friend( who has a Golden Retriver and keeps him groomed like a show dog.) give's thier dog MAYBE two baths a year at MAX. But thier Dog doesn't smell. Somebody advised I use dry Shampoo and work it through his caot whenever he get's brushed. Any idears?

Don't know how often every dog needs to be
bathed. I think it depends on the breed &
the individual dog. I've found something at
PetsMart called 'simple solution', it's a
package of pre-moistened dog bathing cloths.
Works great for my dog.Leaves a nice clean
smell on their fur that lasts for days.
