    Western Washingtonians, please help

I am new here, love this site. Obviously full of very devoted pet owners. I was hoping that maybe someone here could help me.

I am in a horrible situation. I have a beautiful 8 year old Doberman female. I have had her all her life, and she is my dearest friend. But, last fall I was forced to move into an apartment which takes dogs, but I found out too late profiles breeds and does not accept Dobermans among others. I had a friend watch her for me for the time being, as by fall this year I will be moved out of here and into a home where I can keep my dogs. My friend was going to foster my Dobe until then. But, she is military family and they are being restationed and she can no longer watch Shasta.

I have been trying my best to find another foster home for her amongst family and friends, but no one can commit to that long. I offered to provide her feed and continue her vet care, even pick her up and take her on regular outings with me, so long as she had a warm place to sleep and people to be around when I couldn't. But, time is running out and if I can't find a foster home, I need to find a permanent home or take her to a shelter.

I really don't want to take her to the shelter. I need to know where my girl goes. I would like to be involved with the adoption and be able to sleep at night because I know I did my best to place her in a loving home that will care for her the rest of her life. I have listed her on Petfinders, I have put out posters. I have contacted several breed rescues in my area. The paper work for those is understandably a long process, but I feel like I am getting nowhere with it.

Shasta is a healthy, active and loving dog. She is great with all ages of children, other dogs, even cats to a point (she will chase them if they run). She is a perfect dog, a lady in the house, clean, well trained. She just needs a home, somehow. If you know of anyone in the Western Washington area who would like to help her, please email or private message me. I really appreciate it.

    Thank you.

In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. (NIV)

My heart goes out to you in this situation! Prayers are on the way that a resolution is quickly worked out.

Good luck(!) and if I come across anyone/ideas/rescues/etc, you'll be the first to know.

How long until your time is "up"? Or do you not know? I wish I could help. I'm in BC, but that's not too far away. I will look and let you know if I find something.

Thank you both. I am kinda pushing my luck as it is right now. She is here with me at home in my apartment. The landlord is kind of turning his head away for the time being, trying to buy me some time, but if the owners found out, he could be in big trouble.

The Purebred rescue finally got a hold of me last night. But, Shasta seems to be developing a problem of some sort, as she is leaking urine when she sleeps. She is otherwise healthy and active, and the vet said that her blood work is normal, but her urine has a high amount of proteins in it. We are giving her phenylpropanolamine for now, and in two weeks we will check her urine again to see if there is an bladder infection develping. The other thing it could be is extreamly early kidney problems, or she is coming in heat extreamly early (I have never had the money to spay her, so have just taken extream care that she never got bred). The rescue wants to wait until she gets retested before they will decide if they can take her.

I may try to have another friend take her for the two weeks so my landlord doesn't get in trouble, but her husband won't let Shasta stay for too long. I am thinking by the 1st we will know if the rescue can take her. If not, I will have to send her to the shelter.

Oh Shasta! We're crossin' paws, tails, and fingers that your leaks are nothing big!!

I love dobies and wish I had my own place so that I could take her. Give that sweet girl a kiss for me.

*thinking good thoughts, sending warm prayers that Shasta will find a loving family*

I have tried to download pictures to this forum, but they are too big. I got a pm from someone owned by cats who said to upload them at Sony Image Station and they would resize them for me. I have them up loaded and into an album, but can't figure out how to get them here now. But, if anyone would like to see the beginnings of my album, I can send you there once I figure out how.

I have pics of my horses and my goats there too, BTW.

Thank you for the prayers and encouragement. The meds seem to be helping the piddle leak. Finally Shasta can sleep where she wants instead of on a stinky blanket in her own piddle.

    Zippy Kat,

I pm you with the album address. I can't figure out how to send people there without emailing them and without sending them to the editing pages. So I sent you to the editing pages if you can help me.

    BIG THANKS!

Oh yeah, thank you! I like to share pictures. This link works perfect. Definately better than my copy and paste!
