Color Changing Basie

I love Basil! He really is one of a kind!
I forgot, did you get him from the shelter? Were there any siblings or info on his mother or father? I am really curious about his background.

We rescued Basie from PetSmart. He had a littermate that was all fluffy gray. Strange, huh?

She didn't know anything about the parents as they were found in a back yard somewhere. We think he has some Korat in him...because his personally is exactly like that...and his size, build and body shape. His undercoat is a powder gray.

Changing AGAIN?!?!?! Maybe he's jealous of Olivia! He's a handsome cat whatever color he turns out to be!

He'll be 10 months on March 29th. So, he may grow some more, but I doubt it. Korat's eye's change color when they are two...so I'm eager to see that.

Kelly, Basil is gorgeous no matter what color his fur is. Maybe his fur changes color with the seasons. You should start a journal and write down all of his info so then later you can go back and see if his color changes during the same time each year.

Here's baby Basie on the day we brought him home (Aug 02):


Here he is with his first collar (Sept 02):


Here's Basie around the same time, but note the brown color he began taking on. I thought he was part Havana during this time:


Basie's face is the first to start changing color:


And then the fur on his back follows suit:

This is what he looked like in October 02, we came home to this after being on vacation after four days. Our cat sitter thought he was sick!


During Christmas, Basie thought he'd turn into a Meezer:


In January, He decided to go back to a Korat...more even, gray fur:


He got more silky black and dark gray fur in Feb 03:


And, here he is now:

Thanks for the pics Kelly. Basil sure changes colors a lot. At least his personality doesn't change. He's still as sweet as ever.

Kelly, thanks for posting the pictures of Basil`s different coat colours. It really is so incredible the way his coat colour changed in such a short time, and is still changing! What an interesting cat! Besides being stunningly gorgeous of course!
