    Oz off to get neutered...

Oz is at the vet getting neutered today. First time he's been
left somewhere, so I hope he understands. Last week Maddie
was gone all day at the vet getting lumps removed. Maybe he
can make the association that she was gone, but came back,
    to his situation.

When I got there to drop him off this morning, another person
was already at the counter dropping their dog off, without a
leash on their dog I might add. His dog came charging at the
door. Ah such control he had of the dog. I could see right away
why he felt he didn't need a leash on his dog. Anywho, I waited
outside, until they got a leash on the dog. Then when I entered
I took Oz quite a bit aways from him to wait, so that the dog
wouldn't feel his space was threatened. Didn't help. He started
growling at us, which just made Oz wag his tail more furiously.
Ah silly naive pup. He's sizing you up as a breakfast snack, not
    a play companion.

Then I really had to bite my tongue from laughing out loud, when
the vet tech went to take the leash from the guy and asked if the
dog was friendly. Even though his dog had been growling at us
minutes before, he said with a straight face that his dog doesn't
have an aggressive bone in his body... Loves everybody...
Uh Huh... Not sure Oz would agree with him... or maybe he would
since he has no dog sense apparently.

Last I saw of the vet tech, she was being drug off down the
hall by the dog. A dog in serious need of some obedience
classes and a less delusional owner.

Oz, I'm sure your surgery will go fine, so get feeling better soon! Let's just hope you don't come home as a "cone-head" like Nebo did!

I *hate* it when people walk around with dogs off-leash, even if they *claim* they have control over the dog...they don't. It sounds like that guy was a real jerk. I've had my share of people looking me right in the face saying "Oh my dog is fine! He wouldn't hurt anyone...and he's not matted either!" lol

    hola wolfq!

well hopefully he'll emulate Maddie and leave his stitches alone,
since he's seen all week that she hasn't messed with hers.
I should post a pic of her. She looks like frankenweinie right
now. Between a cyst, fatty tumor, warts and an abcess, she's
got 7 bald spots with stitches.

He seemed like a nice enough guy, just not very realistic about
the control he has over his dog. I think having terriers, with
that strong prey instinct, helps me keep my illusions in check
and it carries over to Oz.

Words of advice, Oz, from Bandit the foster.
Do NOT jump around too much and pull at your stitches, otherwise they'll do a scrotal ablation (take all your innards out if problems occur). Soze if I was you, Bud, I'd sit around and look pitifull and get extra hugs and goodies, don't jump around 'cause you'll have that awful collar on for weeks!! and you'll come home with nothin' there but a huge scar!!!! Take it from me, 'cuz I been there...

hiya sudilar and cinder n' smoke!!

I just got home with Oz. Boy he looks bad and his incision looks
even worse. I sure don't remember Murph and Maddie's looking
this bad. They had to do more like a spay surgery then a
standard neuter, since one of his testicles didn't drop. Don't
think I'm gonna have to worry about him running tonight. I had
to carry him in the house. He had a momentary thought about
walking quickly after Murph into the bedroom, but he decided that
wasn't a good idea. Don't think he's gonna budge the rest of
the night. Might have to carry him out to go to the bathroom.
Too many more times of that and I'm gonna be sprawled out next
to him with my back throw out.

Oz here Smoke... No collar or lamp shade. Too tired to move,
much less lick right now. Somebody really shoulda warned me
about this beforehand. Gonna avoid the big red moving crate
    from now on.

Ooooh poor Ozzie!!!! That sounds most painful. Here's to a quick recuperation and back to playing a couple of weeks!!

The dog you described sounds likes my husband's former boss' GSD. They even took him to the fanciest training school (and left him there for a MONTH) and a month after they had him back he was exactly like that again. I guess with some dogs, you can never ever let up on the training or they think the rule the roost.

    hi cookieb!

He looked so sad when I picked him up. Head and ears down.
Leaning into my leg. Didn't expect him to look so upset about
it. Keep thinking he's gonna be like M&M about things and have
to remind myself he's a sensitive Collie not a Terrier.

Oz, glad it's over and now get well quick. Leave those sutures alone or else you'll be wearin' a conehead for a longer time!!

Because of Angel Gaylord (my ex-foster) who spent a Sunday in the ER with an open incision, the rescue person has decided to send all her older GSDs home with that adorable e-collar. Much cheaper than an ER visit!! You should see the mess Bandit the foster made of the collar. It, in fact, had Shiloh teeth marks in it! I'm sure they won't be able to recycle that one anymore. Hehehe
