    Can cats get hip dysplasia?

I just acquired a new foster, Buddy, who has the oddest gait I've ever seen. He walks fine, but when he runs his back legs go all haywire. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. I don't think it's cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) because I have a CH kitty and she is a total spaz. Does anyone have a cat or seen a cat that walks like this? It reminds me of a dog with hip dysplasia.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know anything about hip dysplasia, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your new furkid, even if he is only a temporary, and say I hope he's ok.

I found a website relating to feline hip dysplasia

    http://www.netcat.org/hip_dysp.html

I hope that helps. To me though it sounds more like a spinal cord injury like he/she was hit by a car and the cord was damaged.

I would get it checked out by a vet if you are concerned about it.

Thanks! When he was surrendered to us he went to the vet for his shots and testing. They're supposed to send me a report on their opinion of his condition.

    Smokey the Elder,

Although uncommon in cats, there is such a thing as Feline Hip Dysplasia. Here's another link for you.
