Dearest Gizmo, what a beautiful Beagle/Dalmatian mix guy you are! Your grey and white coat is gorgeous and looks so soft, and you have the sweetest face with those floppy polka-dotted ears and lovely big eyes (that one blue eye just adds to your charm!). It is terrific to learn your story of being rescued at age seven months, and now you are ten years old with your dear rescuer parents Alex and Susan. How wonderful to know that they have been adopting rescued dogs for more than forty years! We thank them for giving so many deserving dogs, including you, Gizmo, such a fine home.
You love children and meeting people, and you enjoy playing with other dogs on the sand shoals near your house. At age ten, you keep up with the younger dogs. You're very affectionate, and you know that good trick of sitting when you want a treat. You and Alex and Susan all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Gizmo, on being chosen Dog of the Day! We hope you and your dear Alex and Susan and all your family and friends, human and canine, are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
