Precious Penny!
Dearest Penny, what an adorable young lady you are! You are such a pretty Tuxedo girl, with that soft-looking black and white fur complete with white gloves and boots, and that sweet face with the cute pink nose and those long white whiskers and eyebrows and the lovely big green eyes. You look so comfortable and content in those great photos, and thank you for sharing them with us. I wish I could reach through the screen and across the ocean to Norfolk, England to pet you! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Purrrson will pet you for me .
And what an uplifting and heartwarming story of rescue you have to tell! You were rescued from a multi-cat hoarding situation and, not surprisingly, were completely unsocialized. You'd been overlooked by many visitors to the RSPCA before your dear Purrrson-to-be met you there. He/she adopted you and brought you home, but you hid for several weeks. Then you slowly began to make and allow small gestures of touch, first touching her/him with your tail, then letting him/her touch you. You've been gaining in confidence slowly, and now you sleep on the bed with your Purrrson, wake her by sitting on her, ask for strokes and lie down for them, and welcome visitors, cautiously. You love to play with screwed-up pieces of paper your Purrrson throws in the air. It sounds to me like you are making great progress! It's been hard work on both of your parts as she earns your trust but so worth it when you lie down purring in response to head-strokes and face rubs. As she says, "Rescue cats are the best!" You both love each other dearly, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Penny, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and your dear Purrrson and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
