Dearest Melvin, what a beautiful grey and white Tuxedo/Russian Blue mix guy you are! That plush fur is so luxurious and looks so soft, and what a sweet face you have with that cute two-tone nose and those lovely big golden eyes! You are absolutely stunning in both of those great photos, and thank you for sharing them with us. I wish I could reach through the screen and down to Birmingham, AL to pet you, and pet your older sister Sweetpea too! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Mom will pet you both for me .
And what a delightful Purrrsonality you have! You are very dedicated, standing guard through the window over what goes on in the backyard and keeping your family safe. You are named for Grandfather, whom you never met but who like you is very outgoing and "loves the ladies" (whatever that means!) too. You came to the shelter after your previous parents could no longer keep you (and we thank them for bringing you there and not just abandoning you). Three days later your dear Purrrmanent Mom adopted you! She is crazy about you, but your sister Sweetpea isn't. Every day you clean her, but instead of returning the affection she just whaps you! We hope that with time you two will become best of friends. You perform essential household feline duties, including pushing Dr. Pepper bottle caps down the stairs at 3am each day and showing people around the house, talking away and accompanying them into the bathroom in case they need you. You and dear Mom, and dear Sweetpea too, of course, all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Melvin, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and Mom and Sweetpea and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats, now that you are a world-famous Internet star!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
