I'm glad that they are there to take care of vermin.

Wow, that's a big one. I wonder what kind of snake that is. I wonder what those round things are in the photo, some sort of fruit? How would you know if it was a dangerous snake? I know, peppered you with too many questions.
It's a black rat snake, non-venomous.
One of the most common venomous snakes in North Carolina is the copperhead snake. I've never seen one, but I know what it looks like.

The round things are black walnuts, we got tons of them.
