    Darma and Karma

This is one of those stories that make working at an animal hospital so emotional and heartbreaking.
One of our clients has two beautiful tabby brothers, Darma and Karma.
Darma was diagnosed with lymphoma last year. He has done pretty well with chemo until lately. When I got to work yesterday, he was boarding. He was there all by himself, looking very weak, but eating. He was without his brother Karma, who's supplies I saw, but not the kitty.
Then I saw Karma's medical record in the cremation slot. He had been hit by a car over the weekend and passed away.
I couldn't believe it. They loved each other so much.
And then I thought, maybe it's for the better. Darma is not long for this world, and his brother would have had to deal with his loss.
But my heart goes out to his parents. Those kitties are so special to them, and I can't even imagine the sadness they're experiencing, and they know that Darma might not be waiting for them when they return from their trip.

Oh, I am so sorry. My heart goes out to Darma and his parents.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
