Well, I had the CT scan and mapping done. They are very efficient and I was out of there in 20 minutes. Two days later I was called and advised that my first radiation treatment would be December 18th at 4:45 pm. A little sooner than I was expecting as the radiation doctor told me they would take 2 weeks to create my program after the CT scan. I'm ok with getting it underway sooner than later. Sooner we start the sooner treatment is over. I'll be getting 16 days of radiation to the entire right breast area. Then 4 days of "boost", higher intensity radiation focused on the tumor bed. My poor skin!

Gayle, you are being positive - the sooner you start, the sooner it's done.

I'm sure there are some special creams etc to help your skin?

    HUGS.

Well, I've had 3 radiation treatments now, #4 tomorrow. Then I'll be down to 16 left to go. So far so good. Skin is ok, not pink or red, I'm lotioning the heck out of it though. Don't want it to get dry and have any reason to split or crack.

I'll have my herceptin treatment as well as my 5th radiation treatment on Christmas Eve, then 2 days off and back to it Dec 27.

16 treatments to go sounds a lot.

Thank you all for your lovely comments.

I have now completed 11 radiation treatments. Skin is still red and itchy, but the creams help. I was advised to keep it in the fridge by the radiation tech. Putting it on cold is helpful. I have 5 more full breast radiation treatments and 4 boost treatments directed only at the tumor bed.

When this is finished I will only have to attend the Herceptin treatments, every 3 weeks until August.

I feel like I'm at the 15 km mark in a half marathon, 6 more km to go and my hip is nagging me to quit. There is no quit and I always finish the race. I'm almost finished this race.
