Dearest Louie, what a gorgeous guy you are! That pale ginger and white coat is so pretty and looks so soft, and what a sweet face you have, with those long white whiskers and the lovely big eyes. Thank you for sharing those great photos with us! You look so comfy and relaxed in the first, and how nice to see you with your dear young skin-sister Emma in the other. I wish I could reach through the screen to Smith Mountain Lake, Hardy, VA and pet you! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Purrrsons will pet you for me .
And what a terrific story you have to tell! At first you were a stray kitty appearing all around the neighborhood but not letting anyone get close. Then your dear-Purrrsons-to-be started leaving food out for you and talking to you, calling you 'little orange cat,' which soon evolved into Louie. (You particularly like it if spoken with extra emphasis on the last e.) You became a member of the family, helping to fill their hearts after the loss of their beloved sixteen-year-old tuxedo cat Katie.
You and young Emma became good friends, with you tickling her by wrapping your tail around her neck as she played with you! You enjoy being carried around in the crook of Meowmie's arm, kneading the air with your front paws as she walks. You have a very subdued, kitteny meow, and you love playing with plastic balls and yarn. You wait for a door to close to stick your paw beneath. You still like to go out, but you come home when called and purr in exchange for hugs. You and all your dear family members love each other very much, don't you. What a delightful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Louie, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and your dear Purrrsons and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
