    FANTASTIC news for Cole!

Just to recap for newbies: Cole is about 12 years old. Earlier this year he was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. This cancer occurs in both cats and dogs and is incurable. It is, however, treatable.

The chemo is a TKI (Google is your friend) called Palladia. It targets mast cells and cuts off their blood supply.

By the time Cole was dx'd, his spleen was red and enlarged and the cancer had also spread to his liver but NOT - thank God! - to his lungs.

The spleen was removed and he went on chemo a couple of weeks later - 15mg of Palladia every other day.

Today it was confirmed that his recent bouts of vomiting were due to the Palladia (side effect). His ultrasound was great - the oncologist was "very pleased" - the tumour had not recurred! Everything, including formerly compromised lymph nodes, was totally normal!!!

It may not be curable but I'll take this any day!

His dose of Palladia has changed. 5mg one day, skip a day, 10mg, skip a day, 5mg...you get the idea.

So happy for my baby boy!

This is beyond fantastic! Way to go, Candace and Cole.
I'm glad that the reason for his vomiting was found. I hope that the lower dose of Palladia will continue to work.
I love Cole's picture. He is such a beautiful baby.

Thanks everyone. That is a very recent picture also.

I erred in the medication change - it's 15mg one dose, 10mg the next, etc.

Zoe was so happy that Cole came back (NOT) that she peed on the pillow next to mine that night.

And what do we do? We change the pillow case, move on and love them all the same.

Yes - but given the effects of gravity, we wash the fitted sheet, the mattress cover, clean the little bit on the mattress and turn it over.
