    Thursdays #696 - mid-September already

I'll go ahead and open up It's the middle of September already, time does fly! Today (September 14) is national cream filled doughnut day. I heard this bit of info on the news this morning. So, I've brought doughnuts and I'll put a pot of coffee on, since it's not 5 o'clock yet in Chicago.

Here's a toast to all of Pet Talk! I am grateful for Mayor Karen and all my PT friends!

Funny thing? I just finished eating a donut tonight and wanted to get on line and post.

LOL, I have had a 'fun' last few weeks! Cable problems, had to change the internet provider and then had to wade thru all the 'computer tricks' I had up me sleeve to get the network and the printer up and running!!!

I saw PUMPKINS at the store today and Halloween candy the day before - the weather is slowly starting to cool down and I saw some leaves on the trees starting to drop across the street.

Soup and cornbread were on the menu tonight.......Belly up to the bar and I'll start to serve.

    Hi Orc.....long time.....

Who is up for a drink?

Last week summer abruptly ended. Right now it's plus 2 degrees that's 35 for you Fahrenheit folks. We had a frost advisory so I brought the tomato and pepper plants inside. I've got the water on for tea if anyone else is chilly this morning.

Are you saying that we southerners can't handle the cold?

It has been pretty crazy this past couple of weeks, first it was hot - then we had the residual hurricane rain - that pushed the temps down to 65. I was wearing a tank and a shirt over that for that weather. Yesterday I was sweating and came to the realization that it was 85 degrees outdoors!

    I'll take a glass......

Oh...a few days ago I stepped outdoors in the early evening and I could smell the fireplace somewhere in the neighborhood!

I'll get the Orc to chop up some firewood for us?

    Done.

Those of us here are struggling with the abrupt change. It's a huge topic of conversation. One day it was 30 degrees the next it barely made 10 and has been like that since. It's 1 degree now. No nice easing to cooler temps.

As a runner, I love the cold temperatures.

Tea is on again and I see Orc has the fire ready to go.

Would you believe it's in the upper 80s F in Chicago today. I'm putting on a kettle of water for iced tea. It's hot out! I already started switching my closet from summer to fall clothes, whoops!
