    2015 Fairbanks Ice Festival

    The 25th Annual Fairbanks Ice Festival in ongoing. http://www.icealaska.com/en/
    You can check out the participants and see the work in progress. I tried the webcam and it was glitchy so I gave up.

    Single Block Winners:
    First Place: Ancient Protector by Zuev, Ivan and Ponomarenko, Eduard


    Second Place: Dream Weaver by Smith, David "Pablo and Edwards, Brian "Tator"


    Third Place: Take a Walk by Nakamura, Junichi and Foltz, Chris

    They haven't awarded the places for the Multi Block sculptures http://www.icealaska.com/en/sculptur...lock-2015.html yet.
    But, you can view them on that page and see the participants. I can't believe people come from around the world to compete. Thailand? Mexico? Monaco?

    How fun! Yeah, ice sculptors work all around the world, but in most places they are just for fancy events - banquets, weddings, parties - and work in a freezer, not outside! We are always worried when the air temp is above freezing right before New Years' as there are ice sculptors who come for the First Night celebration. and Boston weather is notoriously unpredictable!

    First Place (Govenor's Award): Fighter by Nakamura, Junichi Sawamura, Shinichi Kitburi, Chan and Murray Dean


    Second Place: Moonlit Courtship by Costic, Aaron Duggan, James Parrish, Jess Parrish, and Michael Stoddart


    Second Place (Govenor's Award): Octopussy by Rasmussen, Burr "Buddy", Butter, Reverand, De Marais, Dean and Kendall, Aaric
