Thursday #624, If it's Thursday, It must be Thursdays!

I need a break from the vulgarity of life!

Time to make slushies, eat guac or nachos and be totally irrational!

    ------------

    I want fajitas, too?

    Orc, fire up the BBQ!

    ______

I went out to toss out the trash and smelled BBQ, the guy next door was in his pajama bottoms, barefoot and grilling.

    It was epic!!

We were thinking of grilling but the 18" (45 cm) of snow pack on the deck put paid to that notion...

We are doing ropa vieja this weekend. Basically slow-cooked brisket with lots of good adds, shredded, in tortillas.

In our old neighborhood, the Dad next door often grilled in the winter, snow or not. Part of the shoveling the kids always did was the area around the grill!

Time for a quick Spanish/cooking trivia break?

"Ropa Vieja" translates to "old clothes'. It has to do with the shredded meat looking like tattered or frayed fabric.

Good stuff, a margarita goes well with that?

    -----

I went to the store a while ago and looked at the "Tobacca Jack's" store sign.

    I laughed.

    The sign said, "SLUSHIES".

    ------

I lived in the high desert for a while and once BBQed a tri-tip in the snow.

The only reason I mentioned it that this was in Cali?

I'll take a slushie! its actually kind of warm for February for us - supposed to get up to 60 this afternoon. (that's just under 16 celsius). Some fajitas sound good too.

Just another fun day in Orygun. Waiting to see if our Governor resigns this week or not. Quite the political scandal going on here.

I actually had ropa vieja at work once and really liked it. Then it was part of a sampler plate at a Mexican restaurant we ate at in Universal Studios. We decided to Mr. Google the recipe...needless to say there are loads of recipes for anythingon the Internet!

    Here's a slushie!!!!

It's 7 degrees out here today.

I don't want to sound like a whiner but I never thought I'd see/live in temps THIS low.

It hurt my LIFE just thinking about going outdoors...

That is the price one pays for living somewhere where weather actually happens, Richard! I just made a fresh pot of hot tea, want some? There's good honey available - local to New Hampshire, if you want some! My snow baks are now not only taller than me, I bet they are taller than you, too! But they did serve to shield me from the worst of the wind while I was clearing off and shoveling around my car today, so there's a plus!
