Hi PT friends and your wonderful kitties! There was a front page article in yesterday's Trenton newspaper with the picture of an adorable orange kitten named Casino. Last week three 19 year old boys attempted to steal two three month old kittens. Piper Burrows, the executive director of the Princeton based SAVE shelter provided some details. Two of them entered the shelter, took the kittens, then ran out the back door. A volunteer was in the back yard training a dog when they ran out carrying the kittens. The volunteer, who is not named, thought it unusual to see them running into the woods carrying the kittens so he took off after them. He caught one of them and managed to pin him down and rescue the kitten while telling the staff to get the police. The police got there in a few minutes and both kittennappers were arrested on the spot and have been charged with burglary and theft. Both babies, Casino and Penny, were returned uninjured and safe. In fact, Penny has been adopted! A few days later, the third guy turned himself in as the driver of the get away car. All three were released on their own recognizance. The executive director said this kitten snatching is the first such incident in the shelter's 53 year history.
