Thanks again everyone. Yes, he's now home and here's the story:
Yesterday was pretty crazy. I knew that Alani would need a different type of litter so I went to Petsmart and bought fragrance free feline pine litter so I wouldn't have to go after work. Well I found out that I can only use either crystals or the newspaper type of litter. After work I then had to go home first and get the feline pine litter and then go back to the store and exchange it for newspaper litter. Luckily it was an even exchange. Then I went to go pick up Alani. He's doing very well and is very alert for a cat that's on pain meds. I didn't get home until almost 9pm and they gave him his clavamox and pain medicine there so I didn't have to worry about it last night. I have him in a large dog crate in my bathroom for at least the next 7 days. He's already gotten out of the soft e-collar as well as the plastic e-collar. I have to be sure that the plastic e-collar is on very tightly. Last night when I got home, I had to put a few things away so I put his carrier in the bathroom for a bit. When I opened the door a cat ran out of the bathroom and down the hall way. I thought that some how Blaze had gotten locked in the bathroom. No, it was Alani. He had gotten out of his carrier and e-collar. Then I caught him and put the plastic e-collar on him and I decided to look at his incision again. There wasn't one because I had caught the wrong cat! It was Blaze! I had to take the e-collar off and then find Alani. He was in the cat room ready to run under the bed. He did but he ran under and out the door so I closed the door and tried to catch him. He was running all over the place. I finally caught him and put the plastic e-collar on him but he later got out of it. This is when I knew I had to double loop it and make sure it was on very tight. So far he's now kept it on. He didn't want to eat very much this morning he mainly wanted lovin's. I hope that everything will go smoothly for the next 7 days. He needs to be seen again on Tues. at 9:30am.
Aside from money, the main reason I couldn't get the PU surgery for Ming was that the care for him would have been extensive and with my work and school schedule at the time, there would seldom have been anyone home to care for him and watch him. My vet put the cost at an astromomical amount for this surgery. I hopy your vet is cheaper.
Proud to be a crazy cat lady!
OMG, Tracey!!!
I hope things go a little more smoothly from now on! Healing energies and good wishes and prayers are being sent.

Alani, you funny kitty! You were so happy to be home that you were running! please try to take it easy for a few more days. I know you can and your wonderful meowmie will take very good care of you. I am glad you're now home, sweet boy. *kisses*

The care really isn't that involved but I've had many sick or cats that required surgery so I'm used to providing this kind of care. He's on pain medication for 3-4 days and on clavamox 2 times a day until it's gone. I have to keep his e-collar on him at all times but I do take it off while he's eating and I'm supervising him. I also have to make sure that his incision looks good and if not then he needs to be seen asap. He also needs fluids. I'm giving him some canned food and hoping that he won't get diarrhea from it. I'm also giving him large syringes of water by squirting them into his mouth. He doesn't seem interested in his chicken broth yet so I hope to also be able to give this to him when he feels a bit better. I also have to keep him away from the other cats in his own room so he's in the bathroom confined in a large dog crate that I bought many years ago when Storm had the same surgery. I work full time so there's no one to check on him during the day but so far he's kept his e-collar on and he sleeps during the day as do my other cats. Yes, it did cost a lot but it was still cheaper to have this done now than for me to keep bringing him back because he blocked again. Storms PU surgery was actually much more expensive and his was done many years ago. I had to go to a board certified surgeon so the cost was probably double of what I just paid for Alani. I do pay for the care that Alani received because he got round the clock care so I feel that it's worth it. He's doing much better today and eating much better too.
Thanks again everyone. Things are getting better.
Hope things are still going well for Alani and meowmie

Alani is doing very well. He went to the vet for a recheck yesterday morning and she said that he looks great. He has dissolving stitches and some have already dissolved. My vet wanted him to continue to use the yesterdays news type of litter for a few more days so he's still staying in the dog crate in the hall bathroom at least until Saturday. I know he's lonely in there but soon everything will be back to normal. Luckily my vet didn't charge me anything for is recheck. She wants to see him again in 6 months.
That's great news! So glad you are doing so well, Alani!
