Yes, I saw that list and poked through it, too! Most poems including "pitter patter" I have found are about growing children!
I've Been Frosted
This poem I am looking for is over 20 years ago in the Woman's Day or Good Housekeeping magazine...it was in the back pages and it was a framed poem with a picture of a black cat playing with a ball of yarn (from what I remember) in the upper left corner...
Here are the Contact Us links to both magazines. If they have digitized their archives they just might be able to track it down.

I will definitely try those links - thank you so much!

Empty
That's all I feel
My loyal friend
No more pitter-patter
Of your paws on the floor
No more gentle nudge against
My leg to let me know you're
Right there
No more head scratches
Your favorite!
No more nipping at my shins
To let me know you're hungry
No more tapping my face
To wake me in the morning
When you think I've slept long enough
No more guarding me from
All the bad things you perceived
You were always so protective.
Just a huge vacancy
And the tears
Welling in my eyes
And warming my cheeks
Rest in peace
Sweet Xada
You will always be alive
In my heart
Until we meet again
