Because cats are too laid back to involve themselves in the silliness of having an outdoors abode?

Are cats as naughty as dogs? I'll be interested to see the replies.

Are you serious??? My RB Sherbie who was an outdoor cat, had, and loved, his outdoor abode. It was a shelter I made for him from a huge red plastic tote that I bought one year around Christmas time. It became known as "The Little Red Cat House"!

Having been Mom to both cats and dogs over many years, I'd say cats are MUCH more naughty than dogs. They can climb your curtains (and your pant leg), clear off a table with just one jump, sleep wherever they want (including the dining room table ), spray whatever they want, permanently scar you even while just playing, door dart in the blink of an eye, eat the houseplants - and I'm sure I have left out so much more that my little darlings did! Gotta love em tho................

Okay, okay. What I mean by the question is this: we have a forum called "Dog House." Why do we not have a forum called "Cat House?"

The term "dog house" carries with it the connotation of something bad. The term "cat house" refers to ..., erm, well uh, well, a cat house is the abode of certain, shall we say, "ladies of the night," so ...

Boy, am I gonna be in the dog house for starting this thread ...!

    Dog House forum

I think it got its name years ago that if we discussed controversial things we would be sent to the "dog house". I wanted Penalty Box but got voted down.

I knew what Willow Oak meant - I was just being a smart arse!

But I'd really like to see more response to who is more naughty - dogs or cats.

Can we say 'trouble maker' here?

Having both, I'd have to say cats are more naughty. Easier to take care of, but more naughty! But then again, there is Jakey. hmmm...

If you've read any of my posts about Patch, I believe they're confirmation that cats get into much more trouble than dogs. Lady had her moments, but those were while she was a pup.

We chose the term "The Dog House" as it is not only a place you don't really want to be sent, but an animal-freindly term that is prevalent in popular culture as the place you get sent when you are in trouble. We had to pick a name for the place to put any political, controversial or upsetting threads, and this seemed a good match.

And Penalty Box only works if you are familiar with hockey, and players are just sent there for a period of time - and the threads in The Dog House are not gonna to get released back onto the rest of the board after a set period of time!

As you mentioned, the term "cat house" in popular culture is not associated with anything we would want to promote on Pet Talk.

One of the first thread that inspired the creations of The Dag House had to do with cats - the "kitty litter cake" thread, that made people go "ewwww, gross!"

Seeing as cats sleep 18 hours a day, I figure someone could mention a contentious issue, and the Cat House people could just yawn and go for a nap.

Cats may be more naughty, but they're better at getting the dog to take the blame.

Many years ago my siblings and I had a 40th-anniversary party for our parents, inviting as many of their friends from over the years as we could get ahold of.

And what was the dessert but Kitty Litter Cake, baked by yours truly!

Everyone loved it! (really!).. especially Mom and Dad!
