Sugar & Marlin have gone to Rainbow Bridge

Both dogs were assisted to Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.

Sugar stopped eating on Sunday. The tumor had grown noticeably, the entire left side of her face was swelling up. I was able to hand feed her canned food, but I saw no point in letting the disease continue its progress.

Marlin has been hanging on for me the past few weeks. He life consisted of spinning, eating and sleeping. The only way to stop his frantic spinning and barking was to give him a sedative, which meant he was sleeping his life away. Starvin' Marlin was hungry to the end, but could not find his food bowl without help.

We spent an hour in the backyard in the sunshine (with the others dogs as well) before we left for the vet. Sugar dozed, Marlin spun, neither would come to me, I had to keep going to get them and pick them up to hold them. Clearly, it was time.

Sugar Dugar and Marlin Darlin' I love you both so very much! I am sorry we just couldn't help either of you any longer.

I know how this hurts, and I'm so sorry, but you did right by both of them. They know how you love them.

Godspeed to the Bridge, dear Sugar and Marlin; Peace to your Mom who loves you so.

Oh no Sandie. My heart just sank when I saw this. I am so sorry that you had to let them go, but you absolutely did the right thing for both of them, tho I'm positive it was one of the most difficult decisions you ever had to make. They are both at peace now.

Godspeed Marlin Darlin and Sugar, as you travel paw in paw to the beautiful Rainbow Bridge. I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person (dog), but thanks to your loving Mom, I feel like I knew you. All of her stories and pictures and videos of you and all of The Fluffs, brought you into all of PTers hearts and homes. I know that I will really miss you.

{{{Hugs}}} to both you and Dad, Sandie.

Although it hurts, you made the right decision. What you described was not the kind of life they wanted, and now they are at peace. I hope you will find comfort in this sad time.

Rest easy, Marlin and Sugar, you were so loved and will be in your mom's heart forever.

    ((((hugs))))

Oh Sandie, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Two so quickly and so close together must be devastating. My heart breaks for you.

I remember when you wrote to me when you were thinking of adopting Sugar. You were so excited - then you were so brave and took on the rest of the fluffy butts. Sugar and Marlin have had the best for the last years of their life. And now they've been helped on to the next step with love and dignity. They wouldn't have asked for more.

    RIP Sugar and Marlin.

Although I know that no words can ease the loss you feel, just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sugar and Marlin, rest in peace now, beautiful ones. You were, and always will be, much loved.

Oh, Sandie. This is the news I was dreading. I am so sorry for your losses. (((HUGS))) I know how much they are loved. Thinking of you.

Edited to add: I'm sure Ozzy and Phred were on hand to greet Marlin and Sugar.

And I agree with Pomtzu: " I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person (dog), but thanks to your loving Mom, I feel like I knew you. I am so sorry Sandie. I am in tears here at my desk. It is difficult to make this decision for any of us, but to have to make it for two at once....... But it was the right decision, of course. Now they are both happy and healthy at the bridge.

    RIP Sugar and Marlin

I'm so sorry Sandie. Sugar and Marlin had a dogs dream come true of a life with you and your dad. I'm sorry you had to let both of them go to the Bridge at the same time. You can take comfort in knowing they won't have to look for each other when they get there. Big {{{hugs}}} to you and your dad.
