    the measure of a cat

    grams of white cat hair
all over the place, on clothes
    shirts, shorts and jackets

    ounces of mischief
    knocking over dad's knick knacks
    and some other stuff

    Pounds of kitty scat
    dad is always cleaning up
    after my rear end

    tons of real fun
keeping dad on his toes and
    making him laugh loud.
The secret of life is nothing at all
    -faith hill

Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all -
    Together we stand
    Divided we fall.

    I laugh, therefore? I am.

    Eddie is a riddle.
Who is more of a riddle?
    He or dad Richard?

    A riddle to solve.
    But there is no solution.
    Both guys are poets

    White hair on black shirts
    a classic contrast- Eddie
    knows about fashion.

    Tigris' ticked hair:
the tips go with light clothes
    the bottom with dark

    some days I'm treated
to the greatest show on earth
    watching my cat play

    An Olympic cat
    The balance beam, sprints measured
    in rooms, not feet

    On your mark, get set…
    a crouch explodes into speed
    room to room to room

    Finish line in sight
    across the line, breaking tape
    a world class time

    A marathon scratch???
    walking cat rear, balance-walks
    across the sofa back

    A long jump across
from arm chair to bed mattress
    what extension, form!

    a rhythmic gymnast
a stretching leg, an arched back-
    a judge's score here?

    I can judge my cat
    on ability and grace
    and his love for me

    but in one event
my cat wins a gold medal
    is napping a sport?
    ---------------------------------------

    the alter ego
of a cat is their tail
    a mind of it's own

    I sit in my chair
cat rear on my left shoulder
    cat head on my right

    the teasing cat tail
    flipping to an unheard beat
    caressing my left ear

    just a reminder
of the cat I own and the
    mischief in his soul

    ----------------

    kitty poop is the
end of a meal, face wash and
    well deserved nap.

    A cat on my mind
asleep and warm on my bed.
    I'll be home later.

    kitty twister

    I play every night
    Kitty twister- that real old
    game of body parts.

    Ed always goes first,
Right paw, place on human's foot.
    left front on my knee.

    Rear paw on left foot.
Right front paw goes on my hip
    I am awake now!

    Left front paw, MY RIBS!
Why is my cat so heavy?
    Cat whiskers in face.

    All paws on ribs now.
One half circle all paws move.
    What a game this is!

    Heavy cat body!
Lie down on human's rib cage
    ED? CAN I MOVE NOW?

    I lost at this game.
Only a cat can play this-
    Me? I need my sleep!

    to climb all over.

    I do sleep better
    snuggled up in dad's armpit
    He doesn't smell bad.

    He showers often
    And uses baby powder
    My dad smells the best.

    the sum of all parts.

    Ears

    My early warning
turning on top of my head-
    I always listen

    My eyes can fool you
I look like I am dozing-
    But I am alert.

    You walk all about-
    the clumsy Human you are.
    I know where you move.

    Watch my ears next time
    Nature's sonar, listening
    I 'see' with my ears.
