Just a suggestion but maybe your vet could try Bobby on Pancrease -V powder. I've seen that work miracles on some dogs. Seems like their system stops producing enzymes to help assimilate their food but with enzyme replacements some dogs go on to live quite a few years. You might be right in assuming that he could have eaten something harsh to destroy his digestive tract.

Pancreatitis? Celiac's disease? Is it B12 or Omega 3s that do something to maintain the gut? Chris, do you have access to a vet other than a surgeon? If it is food related, or digestive tract related, I haven't had much luck with traditional vets.

I don't know about Celiacs in dogs, but in people, I have heard that sometimes the things you think would not have anything bothersome in them does. Does it come and go? Or has it just gotten worse, and not better now for a while?

What are you feeding him, Chris?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll ask my vet about it.

Johanna, his symptoms don't point to Pancreatis but Celiac's may be playing a part. His body cannot tolerate any kind of grains including rice and even gluten free dry food is a problem for him.

I now feed him on a canned food called Butchers tripe which he seems to tolerate very well.

Sorry to hear the news wasn't the best. I'm glad he's still in good spirits though. I hope he starts to feel better and puts on a little weight!

Bobby has gone downhill very fast, over the last 24/48 hours. He can only walk a few paces and can hardly stand. That awful decision, the one all of us dread having to make, has been made, a vet will be here at my home to do the deed sometime after 10.30am UK time.

Oh Chris, I am so sorry to hear this. A tough decision for you, but one I know that you make totally out of love. Give Bobby a hug for me and take one for yourself too.
