I was outside the Meriden Superior Court today before 9 a.m. and the temp was already 90. My trusty lil red protest shirt was soaked with sweat!!! By the time we got out, it was 109 degrees!!!!

I'm now sitting in my underwear in front of the ac.

Another sizzler in store for today! YUK!

My poor DIL - she has a miserable place to work in this weather She works at the huge, massive, sprawling Walmart Distribution Center in town - a 2 story steel building with a flat roof - and she works on the 2nd level. She said the temp in her work area yesterday was 125. People were passing out, getting, sick, and the night shift was calling in sick. They have huge fans, but all it does is blow hot air. I don't know how she does it.

My son has an ideal job tho. He works at a cold storage (food) facility, and is in and out of the -30 degree freezers all day. The guys there have to wear insulated cold weather gear. I want to go to work with him!!!!!

We are in the mid- to upper 90's with a thunderstorm just about every day. The temps we are having now usually don't arrive until August. From what I see, from all the weather report across the country, we have been fortunate to be in a near normal pattern. We are cooling down at night and our morning are very nice now. I am in the process of building a courtyard that has really been nice, for the last month, for morning coffee.

So it's 86F (30C) in Chicago today but the humidity is down to 48%. It feels completely different. We've gotten 8 inches of rain over the past 3 or 4 days. The grass looks better and you can actually tolerate being outside longer than a split second.

It's down a bit, 82F (28C) but the humidity is 75% -- sticky. And July has suddenly turned rainy.

I heard on the news last night that a tropical storm could make landfall around Corpus Christi, Texas -- but they need the rain so that's not exactly a bad thing. Just so it isn't a damage-causing storm.
