Sorry..I didn't post earlier today when I got the good news.

Yes! Good news! Logan's lump was just fat. In an odd place, and the vet wants me to continue to check her belly She has to call back about a plan of action on Logan's hips once she gets the results.

    Woo! Woo!

I've been following all of this, just haven't said anything.

So glad her lump was only fat, and hope that everything goes well with her hips. Give her a hug and smooch from me!

The vet called today. Logan has hip(s) dysplasia and degenerative arthritis. So, I'm to continue Dasaquin and Rimydal (as needed). We'll do blood tests every 2 months or so to check any side effects, but since Logan is so healthy (knock on wood), she doesn't forsee a problem. I'm to give her fish oil. I'm not wealthy, but instead of buying it over the counter, she sold me some especially made for dogs, since vitamin manufacturers process differently. And it's premeasured. I'll just knock off other useless expenses. Whatever it takes to keep her comfortable. She also mentioned "laser treatment". i should have questioned more, but I got dimwitted and forgot. Shots are another option down the line.

    Hi Karen,

We tried the laser therapy with Spot's arthritic knee. It was $200 for the first 6 treatments, which were 2x per week for 3 weeks. We saw definite improvements during that time. The problem has been it is $50/treatment after that, and not keeping up with it, I can tell his knee is still bothering him. We need to talk to the vet and see if we can buy 6 more treatments for the $200 and schedule one every 2 weeks or 1 x month. The idea is that the effects are cumulative and that the intense 2x per week won't be needed long term....but how frequently they are needed can vary.

There is some decent information at www.k-laservet.com or if you have any questions, I will try my best to answer.

Glad everything is good with Logan!

Thanks a million! The laser sight was so interesting! That, of course, will definitely be an option. I'm giving Logan Rimydal every other day, as I noticed after dinner, she gets very tired if I give it to her every day. I'll experiment. She still ran after a rabbit in our yard today. i guess she'd ignore pain and do that anyway..those nasty critters invading her property!

I'll do anything to keep her healthy and happy.

to all and a RRRrrrr from gabby Mz Logan!
