    Baseball 2011

It's never too early to think about baseball

Only 63 days until the pitchers and catchers report; 109 days until the Red Sox regular season opener in Texas.

I'm hoping the 2011 season for the Pirates is a lot different. We FINALLY have a new manager in Clint Hurdle (after getting rid of "old stone face" John Russell). The Pirates have the talent on the field, but not the managerial skills.

Cassiemom, guess who the Cubs play in their home opener? The good old Pittsburgh pirates! This should be a VERY interesting series!

The first game went sooooo well.

Ron Santo Jr. led the seventh inning stretch, which I thought was a nice way to honor Ron Santo's memory. I missed him most of all today. It was very strange listening to a game without him.

My Phillies pulled off a winning season opener yesterday, after I had given up hope. Even the fans in the stadium were deserting the sinking ship, and bailing out and heading for home (or the bar) in the 7th. Bet they're kicking themselves now tho, for leaving when they did !!!

It was the first season opener that they won since 1970-something - 76 I think.

    Go Phillies!

I watched that game and I agree it was a touching tribute not only to a great ball player, but to an even more wonderful man.

It was somehow surreal to be driving yesterday, snow and sleet falling, and have the Red Sox game on the car radio!

    But it has begun!

At least you got to listen.

If you ever want to listen to a baseball game and wonder "How in heck did they get the job?".....listen to a Yankees game with John Sterling. If I hear "It's an A-bomb by A-rod" one more time I think I'm going gag.

The joys of being a Red Sox fan in Yankees country. Even a lot of the Yankee fans hate him.

Manny is retiring. Rather than face the possibility of a 100 game suspension for the use of performance-enhancing drugs, he's walking away.

MVP of the 2004 World Series - now this. How sad.
