    Dog Show photos

Went to the Providence County Kennel Club dog show yesterday, walked around and took some pics. Met a lot of WONDERFUL DOGS!!!!

No bichons in competition, but Polar was there for the Junior Handlers. Only bichon present.

    Border Collie

    Belgian

    Group shots

    Another American Eskimo

    Lots more coming!

Not sure what these were, the puppy was there to get socialized.

There were a LOT of Tollers! I took a few pics when they were in the ring, but my flash wasn't enough for you to make them out. Here is one individual:

This girl was outside, with her litter of 5 puppies near by in an x-pen. The pups are 5 weeks old now, "guinea pig sized" as the breeder said. Yes, I held one and got my puppy kisses.

Many Danes as well. Even with my flash, this black one is hard to see. Even by Dane standards, this one was BIG! And SO sleek.

    There were FIVE harlequin Danes!

Notice this handler's cell phone cover? LOL

    More pics coming up.

This is Kron. He is an English Mastiff; HUGE dog, ENORMOUS head, and what a Gentle Giant. He is a champion, and also a certified pet assisted therapy dog, going to nursing homes and hospitals for visits.

I had to take several photos of him.

    Kron has brindle coloring.

    Australian Shepherd

    GSD

Of course there were tons of Labs, in all 3 colors: black, chocolate, and yellow.

    More photos on the way.

This is Daisy. She is not a show dog. She was there to cheer on her sister, Garbo, who IS a show dog. Daisy does Rally Obedience, so she is in a "puppy cut," not the show cut. Something about this face just drew me in. She is VERY personable, wanting pets from everyone!
    My first shot:

Daisy: No, no, take my GOOD side!

Handler had to help, ha haa

Last photo: look at those ears, held up and out, beautiful!

    Thanks for looking!

I like the diversity of dogs so much!

Kron the Mastiff, just ... wow! I bet he's good medicine for people in hospitals. I imagine he must make people smile! Especially kids.

And Daisy, get my good side - LOL! What is rally obedience? In the last picture, ears up and out- what breed of a dog is this? He's (or she's?) so pretty!

Thank you, Sandie for these pictures!

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!

Rally Obedience -- or Rally O! -- has the owner reading signs along a route, and giving the dog commands according to the signs. It is timed, so this is how you learn who won. The dog is off leash, and is on the handler's left side unless a command indicates otherwise.

    So for example:
    - first sign is "START" .
    - "sit" - handler has the dog sit, then get up and proceed
    - "fast" - handler and dog run to the next sign
    - ">" - turn right

Those are the basic, easy things. It gets into some very fancy moves. I don't recall the symbol, but the handler stops, the dog proceed to cross in front, go around behind, and sit at the left side.

One o many Rally O! sites:

Lacey and I tried the basic intro course, but it wasn't for us.

Last one is an English Setter, I believe.

Good grief - that Mastiff is huge. How could anyone not smile after seeing him??? Love the Old English Sheepdog too. If I were ever to get a big dog - that would be it - and a resident groomer to move in with him too! Thanks for the pics.
