The Little Lions Are Back For The Last Time

Hi everyone. I took Storm,Sky, and Ziggy Stardust to the groomers on Sat. morning for their annual lion cuts. Unfortunately it was just too stressful for them so this will be the last time that they get lion cuts.

The groomers give out report cards about the animals and Storm was good but did resist, Ziggy was good probably because she was scared to death, and Sky was a little terror and tried to bite everyone so they said that he'll need tranquilizers in the future.

I dropped them off at 10am and they said that they'd be ready at 4pm. They were actually ready at 3:20pm so I left a little after that to go get them. It wasn't as busy there since it was a holiday weekend which was what I was hoping for but they were all very stressed out. On the way home I smelled something awful. I always put puppy pee pads in the carriers in case of accidents. I thought that one of them had peed on the way home but I was wrong.

I brought Storm and Ziggy upstairs to my condo and let them out and Storm started hissing at everyone which is actually a normal reaction for him. I then went back downstairs and when I got Sky I noticed a horrible odor. I didn't see anything and I let him out of his carrier when we got back to my condo. I looked closer and he had pooped in the carrier and had managed to push it under the base part that clips to the bottom of the carrier. It was smashed in between. Luckily it wasn't diarrhea but it was still a big mess.

Today Sky has been having sneezing attacks and it's probably because he either got so stressed out yesterday or something at the groomers may have caused this. He's still on 5mg of pred and his other medicine at night for his asthma attacks and he's been doing great until today. Tomorrow I'm supposed to start him on 2.5mg of pred in the mornings which I'm still going to do. I just hope that this sneezing doesn't continue or get worse. Ziggy has also been growling and hissing at both of her brothers so she's still stressed out too. This groomer trip just wasn't worth it and now I wish that I had never taken them. I'll post some pictures of everyone in the next post.

As the mom of a total scaredy-cat (Frankllin) I can relate to the stress a groomer or vet visit can cause....
Is there a local mobile groomer? Maybe you can find someone that will come to the house and just do the shaving and clipping....
They are really cute with their new hairdo's.......

Your pictures of your sweeties are great! What a beautiful kitty crew!

Hey kitties, You all look so cute and so cool with your lion cuts. If it's as hot where you are as it is in Trenton, you're going to feel a lot more comfortable. Be sure to ask Meowmie to give each of you lots of scritchies and lovies from me?

How do you ever leave the house without them? They are all so adorable! I especially loved the closeup of Ziggy. She is such a beautiful lady cat!

They are all so pretty, and they will be so much more comfortable and cool with their stylish new do's!

Thanks everyone. Yes, this the reason why I've been taking them to the groomers the past 3 years because I have no A/C and they are much cooler and more comfortable. Unfortunately this year was just too stressful on them so I won't be taking them back to the groomers again.

Sky is still having sneezing attacks today and I hope he hasn't gotten himself sick due to all of the stress on Saturday. I wish I could give them lion cuts at home but I'd never be able to do this alone. There are mobile groomers but they cost even more than the regular groomers so I'll most likely not be putting them through the groomers experience again unless their fur would get severly matted.

I have often thought of getting a lioness cut for Abby, but never did because I always worried it would be way to stressful for her. She is miserable in the heat, but I do have air conditioning, so when we are home it is on.

Tracey, I just love your kitties. They are all so beautiful whether lion-cut or not. I love their facial expressions the most, so sweet! I hope they stay much cooler with their summer cuts. Please give them tons of hugs from me.

I ran the air conditioner (in the bedroom) most of the day yesterday because it was in the high 80s. Cassie spent most of the day on the living room carpet. I put it back on after the fireworks and she slept with me till about 3 AM.

Tracey, I'm so very sorry your kitties had such a stressful day and it's doubly stressful on us hoomans. I hope in a few days they will settle down and be more comfortable in their lion cuts. I just love Ziggy's bi-eyed closeup, but please give them all kisses from me.
