Couldn't agree with you more Sophie's Daddy! I've had 4 poodles (2 toys, 1 mini and 1 standard). They are great dogs! Our mini came in first in her class in obedience school. A year later our standard came in second (handler's error.....hubby was the handler. ) I feel honored that you put them on your list!

See why I didn't want to do it, Rottie? I didn't mean for you to actually do it, just curious if you wanted to! LOL! I'm glad you did it though because those wonderful Goldens are on the top of the list!

Tatsxxx11, this just in, will make you feel better. From April 2001 Dog Fancy:
    1 Labs
    2 Golden Retrievers
    3 GSD
    4 Dachunds
    5 Beagles
    6 Poodles
    7 Yorkies
    8 Chihuahuas
    9 Boxers
    10 Shih Tzu
    11 Rotties

here is my soapbox, with as many rescued greyhounds that I know are out there, most people can't get just one, ('cept me )
they didn't make the list!!!! out of 50!!
Vizslas and Bloodhounds at least made it on the list!!!!

I would have to say that my favorites are:
    in no particular order
    Rotties
    Corgis
    Dobermans
    Cav. King Charles Spaniel
greyhounds (have to say that or no more kisses)

Yeah Rotties are down to 11! They really need a break from their #2 popularity in '98. Popularity means more people that will breed just for money.

oh Rottie, I didn't put my vote in so you would have to recount it! I'm sorry!!!
I also like Rhodesian Ridgeback, don't know much about them but hear they are good watchdogs, and BIG.
This is not really funny, but when Shai gets upset when another dog is around and not friendly, (which is not often) the hair along her spine stands straight up like a Ridgebacks does. She has only done this 3-4 times.

I can't believe that Rottie's dropped to #11!! Always thought they were #2 for a few years already! My good friend has a gorgeous girl named CJ who is one of Star's best friends. Not ONE Rottie at the kennel has ever in any way acted aggresively. Matter of fact, they're the biggest mushes. Rottie, did you see "Miracle Pets" last night? Incredible story about a Rottie who was just awesome in the protection of her person. Jumped 7 feet straight down out of a ten wheeler window. Charged a guy about to assult her Dad. Didn't attack or bite, but pulled the baseball bat the assailant was brandishing out his hand, ran to his human and dropped the bat at his feet! Then helped her Dad by running after them to chase them away! What a girl!

Shais Mom...Greyhounds are just awesome too. I work with so many rescue's at my kennel and they are the SWEETEST, most gentle, loving babies. The first time I saw the tatoo on their ears I cried. We recently had a brother/sister team. They were inseparable and practically slept on top of one another. They were recently rescued and sooooo shy and frightened. By the end of their weeks' stay, it was amazing how much better socialized they were. A bill to ban greyhound racing was recently defeated here in Mass. Apparently people felt that their "RIGHT" to gamble generally would be affected! Just sickening. I would love to adopt a Greyhound. My "niece" is a little Cavalier. Just precious. Smart, beautiful, Ah! See, can't pick just one!

I have yet to meet a dog I didn't fall in love with, but I guess my favorite five would have to be:
    1) a mutt, any mutt
    2) long haired miniature dachshund
    3) smooth miniature dachshund
    4) Bassett hound
    5) German shepherd

    or...

    1) a mutt, any mutt
    2) dachshund
    3) Great Dane
    4) Greyhound
    5) Newfie

    or...

    ALL OF THEM!! EVERY ONE.

I just looked at the others, and yes, Boxers and Samoyeds and Malamutes and whippets and salukis and those funny long snouted Boston terriers and Pembroke Welsh corgis...
