Our dear beautiful Rutherford had this.

It moved to his lungs, so when breathing became too difficult for him, we knew it was time to say good bye.

I am so sorry that the prognosis isn't more hopeful.

Love him while you can and be strong when he can no longer be.

    Update on Tiger

Thank you everyone. Tiger passed away last night. I took him in for the biopsy last Monday and by Friday his condition took a turn for the worse. He was fine right after the biopsy but on Friday he stopped eating. He would drink water but he could barely swallow. It seems that the tumor spread to his lungs and the exterior tumor grew shockingly large and had red welts on it. He could barely walk and you could tell it caused him pain. But he held on until Sunday--just lying on the couch. I can't believe how fast this took him. I am thankful that I didn't have to put him to sleep and that I was able to be with him when he went ... but it was so incredibly sad. He didn't want to go. He kept fighting. I don't want to ever have another pet vaccinated!

I'm so very sorry to hear of Tiger's passing. I'm sure it was tough watching him get worse but, thankfully, he passed w/o your having to make that awful decision for him. He knows how much you loved him and now he's at peace at the Bridge. RIP, Tiger. You will be sadly missed.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    RIP Tiger.

I came back to this thread to see what others had offered for ideas. I never expected to see he had passed already. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Any ideas which vaccine he had in that spot? My vet and I had recently discussed this vaccine induced cancer. She said that there had been a cluster of issues in the 1980's early 1990's, in USA alone. No other countries. So it was surmised that there was a "bad batch," that something in the processing had gone wrong. She said there hadn't been reported cases in quite some time. Next thing, I see your thread on this!

My cats are indoor only, and now I only get the rabies vaccine for them; required by law. My vet only offers Purevax, which does not use the adjutant which was thought responsible for the sarcoma. Problem is, Purevax is only good for one year. The other rabies vaccine is good for 3 years, which is why we were discussing the matter.

RIP Tiger! How sudden...but I know he was comforted having you with him.
