The mystery of the mini blinds

I know cats and mini blinds don't mix. But that somehow didn't deter me from buying them for my kitchen.... I know, I know... I had a moment of sheer stupidity!

I've been working on my kitchen for MONTHS, and am finally done. I hung the blinds two days ago. Already they are destroyed.

    But who dunnit????

this morning, Trixie was on the window sill watching the world go by. She looked funny... little body and HUGE shadowy head.

She turned around to greet me... awwww.....

    CHOMP.

    Mystery solved.

So sorry about the blinds, however, the pictures are adorable! Kitties do love blinds.

All of my windows have blinds.... and all of the blinds have a bent area where the boys pushed their way through at some point. I try to keep them raised a little bit so they can just go underneath the blinds, but sometimes I forget

    I'm sorry, I can't help but giggle.
We have the faux wood like blinds in our house. But the cat can't get behind them anyway. She used to in the office, but now those are broken anyway (can't raise or lower them and can't open the slats with the cord). They are a bit more expensive, but might be a good investment with kitties in the house.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I have vertical blinds and they are in very good shape. I knew going in that horizontal blinds take a beating from kittehs.

There was a thread umpty-squat years ago like this! I think it was called "attack of the mini-blinds" or something like that.

One of my brothers is a foreman at a mini-blind factory. Maybe I'll suggest that they try making the product "cat proof."

It's too bad about your mini blinds, but those pictures are SO cute and SO funny! I have white fabric blinds, and the cats have left them alone, aside from chewing the cord to pieces and spraying mud all over one of them from a nearby potted plant! Window coverings of any kind don't seem to mix with cats.

Wow! Fast work, huh? Man, she/??? didn't waste any time!

We have fake wood blinds in our bedroom and the only problem we have with them is when one of the cats wants to see something outside and they are all the way down. This is usually early in the morning, then they push the blind aside and it makes a noise that wakes me up. Otherwise they have held up well for 8 years! Maybe because these are a lot heavier than the vinyl or aluminum blinds?

    I'm sorry about your decor-destroyers...................

Kim you probably already know this but you can take out some slats from the bottom and move them up to replace the chewed ones. When ever I shorten new mini blinds to fit the window, I save the ones from the bottom and do repairs now and then. It is a little tedious but they come out just like new (until the next cewing session that is) Holler if you wonder what I am talking about.

Thanks Deb, I actually already considered that (great minds think alike) but ya know what, I only paid $4 each. I'm not gonna take the time!

I'll get the pleated shades I saw at the discount place.... originally $150 for $20. I just didn't feel like paying for the $20 per window when I already had these. I guess I need to pay the $20!
