I'm so sorry...prayers and {{{hugs}}} from here too...
GO RAVENS!!
I've also been checking in with Nanxy Efrussy, the cat psychic. She says Mitzi is much older than the 8 or 9 that we suspect and that she thinks the tumor has metastasized to other parts of her body, besides the lungs.
How horribly heartbreaking!
If the tumour has not spread, and amputation is an option, see if a) the vet will take a deposit which I can chip in a bit for (and hopefully others too) and b) if they will take payments.
HUGS and prayers going out for you and dearest Mitzi. If nothing else, I hope any pain can be eased and she cam be comfortable.
"Do or do not. There is no try." -- Yoda
I can only imagine how devastated you must feel right now. I lit a candle for you, but don't know how to post the link. My question for the vet would be if she had the amputation, how much more time would that give her and what quality of life would she have? I would also wonder how long the "after sir jury healing" would take.
I can send a bit of money if that would help towards the cost. Anyone else?
Prayers and love to you both.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

I am so sorry to hear this sad news.
I do not have extra money right now, but I am expecting my tax return by the end of the month. I could give then, or if I have the vet info I could call and have them put some on my Care Credit account.
Please let us know, as I'm sure you will, what your next step is.
I will keep you in my thoughts.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.
Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

You people are too kind. The vet said we may not know how successful the surgery would be; she did not sound optimistic as the tumor is so massive, she's afraid it may be further along than she can feel right now.
Chest X-ray showed no mets to the lungs. We're doing an ultrasound on Saturday to check for other mets. However Nancy, the pet psychic said:
"she is older...she is not that young. she has a bone tumor that may have gone to other parts of her body besides her lungs. an intense surgery like that at her age is not only stressful but traumatic. she is confused and stressed. i will be gone to a pta meeting the rest of the night. make a peaceful decision for both of you. "
For now, Mitzi is home, resting on pain meds. She ate a lot and drank some water, used the litter box (nice low box she can get into). So we wait; keep her comfortable and wait.
Yes, this give you both time to adjust to the situation. If her weight is so low, and she is frail, I can understand the surgery itself would be very hard for her. And i she is older than believed, losing a leg won't be easy to cope with either.
What a situation! My heart breaks, just thinking of what you must be going through. I am pleased she ate tonight, being home with you.
Hugs to you, chin rubs to Mitzi.
.
Georgia, I'm so sorry to hear about Mitzi. I hope that you can keep her as comfortable as possible and you can spend some good quality time with each other. I'm praying for a miracle for her. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way. Please take care. (((HUGS)))
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mitzi. My heartfelt prayers go out to you and Mitzi.
Poor Mitzi! I'm so sorry. Give her a gentle scritch for me.

More thoughts and prayers coming for you and for Mitzi. HUGS.
I'm so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Mitzi.
I am so sorry!!!! Prayers for you both.....
Nine is Fine!!
I'm so sorry. But I'm with the others: not everything that could be done theoretically has to be done. You also have to think about what you put Mitzi through. This tumor really doesn't sound good at all. I hope she has a little time free of pain to say goodbye to you.
