    US Army Private 1st Class Tony J. Potter Jr., from Okmulgee, was one of three Oklahoma National Guard servicemen killed in action on 9th September 2011 in Paktia, Afghanistan, during an engagement with enemy forces involving small-arms fire.

    20-year-old Pfc. Potter joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2010 and was promoted in May this year. He was serving with the 1st Battalion, 279 Infantry Regiment, based in Tulsa. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

    His wife, Emily, is pregnant with their first child. The couple were married last December.

    US Army Specialist Christopher D. Horton, from Collinsville, was one of three Oklahoma National Guard servicemen killed in action on 9th September 2011 in Paktia, Afghanistan, during an engagement with enemy forces involving small-arms fire.

    26-year-old Spc. Horton joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2008 and was qualified as a sniper. He was serving with the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, based in Tulsa. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

    US Army Sergeant Bret D. Isenhower, from Lamar, was one of three Oklahoma National Guard servicemen killed in action on 9th September 2011 in Paktia, Afghanistan, during an engagement with enemy forces involving small-arms fire.

    26-year-old Sgt. Isenhower joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2006 and was promoted to Sergeant in March this year. He was serving with the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, based in Tulsa. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan but he served in Iraq in 2007.

    25-year-old US Navy Petty Officer Brian K. Lundy from Austin, Texas, died on Friday 9th September 2011 from injuries received when a bomb exploded while he was conducting a dismounted patrol in Marjah, Helmand province.

    PO Lundy was serving as a combat medic with the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, based at Camp Lejeune.

    19-year-old US Army Pfc. Brett E. Wood, from Spencer, Indiana, was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on 9th September 2011. According to local news reports, Pfc. Wood had suffered injuries from a previous roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan.

    His body arrived at Dover Air Force Base earlier today (Monday 12th September).

    US Army Staff Sgt. Keith F. Rudd, age 36, died on 10th September 2011 in Parvan, Afghanistan, from wounds received during combat.

    Staff Sgt. Rudd, 36, was a medic with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg. He joined the Army in 2003. This was his third deployment.

    He is survived by his father, who lives in Sunnyville, Calif.

    30-year-old US Army Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Quintana, from Huntington Park, California died on 10th September 2011 from wounds caused by small-arms fire during an insurgent attack on his unit in Paktika province.

    Staff Sgt. Quintana served with the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment based in Germany. He deployed to Afghanistan in July this year.
