    ideas for dealing w/incontinence

My female Boxer is about 7 or 8 yrs. old and is getting worse and worse with this. She's been on Proin which we kept having to increase the dose and she is now maxed out on it. We tried DES which didn't seem to have any effect. Right now I don't have her on anything, hoping that a short break from the Proin will help with tolerance. She's had ex-rays, bloodwork & urine cultures - all fine. The vet said she was going to speak to a specialist at some convention this past weekend (we haven't heard back from her yet).

Right now we keep rotating those blue diapers on a constant basis. It is getting really frustrating. We've had her for 2 years and don't know if she's ever been crated which is probably our next step for at least when we arn't home. Which doesn't matter, really. I can let her out, see her pee, then put on her pants, then a short while later it is wet. I can't keep up.

Does anyone have any other ideas for dealing with this?
We love her, she is the sweetest, most well behaved dog.

What dosage of DES was she on? My girl, Pirate, had to take it every three days for it have any effect. My vet said that was the absolute maximum dose he would prescribe. If she still needed help after that, he would have added a second drug, PPA I believe. Fortunately every three days worked for Pirate, but I could tell within 12 hours if I forgot a dose! My Sleet has taken DES once a week for about 18 months and that low dose works for her.

I hope you find something that will help. Diapers can't be much fun for either of you!

Thanks for replying. I believe it was every few days, I don't have the bottle anymore to check. I was thinking of trying it again with maybe A higher dose or more frequent since so many people had mentioned it on other threads that I searched.
