    Puddly Poop

For the last three days Louie's poop has been the consistency of porridge (oatmeal). His routine is the same as usual, that is he goes twice a day, he shows no signs of discomfort, his appetite is normal. There as been no change in his diet. Does anyone have any ideas what can be causing this. Tomorrow I'm going to put him on a tried and true "fix", Rice, low fat cottage cheese and diced carrots but I'm still at a loss to understand what could be causing this. Any ideas?

Hmm, no change in diet - any new kinds of treats? I assume his gums are nice and pink, nose cold and wet?

Gums fine and he still has his cold, wet nose, although he wasn't impresed with me checking his gums out. We did buy some new treats because they had glucosimine in them. You think that could be it?

I forgot to mention he is also drinking a lot more than usual.

It could be reaction to the glucosamine, or something else in the treats. I'd check the label, and stop those treats for now, give it a couple days and see if that makes a difference!

Thanks Karen. I had forgotten about the treats so for now he is off them. I'm going out to buy lo fat cottage cheese anyway to be on the safe side.

Have you taken a stool specimen to your Vet? Just to see if there is anything exciting in it.

I was at the vets this morning to pick up Louie's meds and they suggested I wait a couple of days and if it is no better or any other symptoms show up to bring him in. It's cottage cheese, rice and carrots for the poor old soul tonight.
