    Why I've Been Away....

Just thought I would pop on here and give an update from my end. Haven't been here in a long time! Many things have happened in our lives since last winter.

First, for the last few years we have been renovating a 100 year old house from top to bottom. We're finally coming to the end of the renovations. We should be paving the driveway, and installing the deck over the summer/fall, doing some landscaping and then we're finished!

Second, in March, Rob had a very serious car accident. He was hit on the driver's side of his car by an 18 wheeler which then made his car spin around and get wedged to the front grill of the truck. Think of the truck and car as a 'T' formation where Rob's car was the top of the 'T'. It then dragged him into a busy intersection. He suffered nerve damage to the left side of this body. Literally, he couldn't use his left arm or hand without it going numb. He's been going through therapy and he's seeing a nerve specialist soon to determine if the remaining injuries are permanent or will be resolved through therapy. We've also started a lawsuit against the driver for Rob's injuries. We found out this is the trucker's THIRD accident. Don't even get me started on this one.

As you can imagine, the last few months have been extremely scary. He literally would have been killed if the truck driver was going any faster (it was lunch time, so there was some traffic which slowed the traffic flow). He really had an angel looking out for him that day.

Finally, the last event that is taking up my time is planning a wedding! Yep, we're getting married. We've been together for 14 years living common law, but his near death accident has changed our thinking and we want to now get married. I really didn't want a formal wedding - church, poofy white dress etc. etc. It's so not me.

After talking with family/friends, reading everything and anything on wedding locations we have decided to get married in Belize! I'll be getting married on the beach and 10 family members will be joining us. I've almost nailed down all the reservations, so we would be flying down there this winter and staying at these two resorts:

    Getting married here:

    Having our honeymoon here:

    http://www.hiddenvalleyinn.com/

Now I just need to find a beach wedding dress, make final resort reservations and we'll be all set.

    ............................

Steve and Gigi are both doing well. Still having typical brother and sister type arguments:

But they still love each other in the end:

That's the update from my side of the globe.

WOW! I am surprised you had time to do anything at all!

How AWFUL about Rob!!! I am glad he survived...and I hope he heals completely. Nerves are picky and vital little things, and they do take a while. Prayers that the specialist has good news.

Wedding! On the beach! HOW COOL! Congratulations! Maybe you can find a white and poofy sun hat?

Steve and Gigi - in that first pic, I bet they have what our family called "fwappity tails"!

It is SOOO good to see you again! And after your wedding you'll have your dream house to live in.

I know Rob was doing a lot of the reno work - have you had some good friends pitch in?

GREAT to see you again! And so glad that Rob survived the accident. Prayers for his therapy and healing and that his nerves will come back to work over time.

Congratulations on the wedding plans! And your kids are looking just great.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! My I had a family member be is a beach wedding and they pictures of it were awesome!

Hope Rob makes a full recovery from his accident, I would be super angry too, if that had happened to me and it was the other drivers 3rd accident.. What's it going to take to get that guy off the roads... to kill somebody?

I'd LOVE to see what you have done with that 100 year old house! I love that kind of stuff and I especially like the old stuff (houses, structures and stuff)

Thats terrible about Robs accident, and we pray that hes recovering and that you are fully compensated by that trucking companies insurance.
Why they would let someone drive that has had two serious accidents
I pray hes not an independant, as he wont have any money to sue over.

What she said. I hope that Rob makes a full recovery and that you'll both continue to be happy and healthy from now on. For some reason, I already thought that you were married.

Good to hear from you, sorry life has been so topsy-turvy for you both. We will keep Rob in our prayers for a full recovery, that must have been so scary, and it must be very frustrating for him when his own body isn;t responding like he'd like it to.

Glad to see Steve and Gigi, I am sure they were good fur nurses.

Cass I'm so sorry to hear about Rob- this is really scary. But there is a good outcome: You know Siegmar and I have been marrying after 16 years of living together after my brain tumor So we hope to have more pictures of trhat wedding.

Oh My Gosh!!!! What an incredible journey you have been on and thank goodness things are on the mend

Rob is a lucky man to have survived that disaster and has my very best wishes for an excellent recovery. The physical healing is tough enough; I can only imagine how frustrating it is for him as he is so active and creative with his hands. The renovation project work he has accomplished is so amazing.

Congratulations to the both of you on your decision and I certainly look forward to seeing wedding pictures on the beach. So romantic and so very special.

The little furkids are adorable as ever and you have captured their expressions purrfectly, as always. They look so happy and healthy - and so fortunate to have a wonderful home with purrents who obviously adore them

    Hugs to all of you,

Thanks so much for all the 'get well' messages for Rob. I'll pass them along! He's doing much better than right after the accident so we're positive.

And planning the wedding is fun - but a bit of a headache! It's really hard to get all the details sorted out from so far away. But I'm sure everything will work out in the end. I haven't even started to look for a dress....

Yes, I'll for sure share home renovation pictures. I have so many I've been slowly reorganizing them into a blog. It will take some time to do this, though!

    Thanks again.
