I think it was posted before, but it seemed to move off the page pretty
quick. I did read a story on this in the news & signed the petition this
morning. The story is getting a lot of play in the news sites & I hope it helps
    this pup and the soldier.

It had been posted down in General, but this is a fine place for it, and to renew interest in it.

Not all these Iraqi dog "rescues" have gone off without problems ...

Rescuing Soldiers' Iraqi pets is just fine - as long as ALL the health safety
rules and requirements are followed to the letter.

Great update from CNN. The pup is coming home to the USA.

Iraqi dog cleared to come to United States
    Posted: 07:07 PM ET

BAGHDAD (CNN) — A U.S. soldier’s adopted dog will be joining her in the United States after all, but the pup missed his flight out of Baghdad Wednesday when his U.S. military clearance to leave Iraq arrived too late.

Sgt. Gwen Beberg, who found and adopted the dog while serving in Iraq, had planned to fly Ratchet from Baghdad to her home in Minnesota as her deployment neared an end. But the military confiscated the animal as she prepared to send him to Baghdad Airport, an animal rights group said.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals International, which has been trying to retrieve Ratchet since the October 1 confiscation, said it would make another attempt to bring him to the United States as early as Sunday.
