    The Southern Baptist Disaster Relief

I think it is time to reconize these people and the work they do. They are in Baton Rouge right now, cooking up 10,000 to 15,000 meals a day to hand out to the people effected by Hurrican Gustav. Eddie and Regina's church members are part of this team and have been there helping to do their part. Rie and I went over there yesterday to meet them but those people had already left and others came to take their place. These are the people that actually pay for and cook the meals that the Red Cross hands out in the hard stricken areas. What a neat set up they have! They have heavy duty, bulk cooking equipment from ovens to braising pans.. (like a giant electric skillet). They have 18 wheelers loaded with groceries to cook, tents to set up under and I was really impressed.. You could smell the food and it made us hungry! Can you imagine cooking enough food to feed 10,000 people, much less buying all that food and the equipment it takes to cook it... and all of it mobile?

Although we did not meet the people we went to meet, we did get to meet some of the others from the Virginia team and they were surprised to find out I was born and raised in Lynchburg myself and my son now lives in Virginia and that is what brought us there. This is sure something I could do and will be checking into it when I retire.

This is a must see, they not only feed people but help in other ways too! http://www.namb.net/site/c.9qKILUOzE...sion_Board.htm

What a nice thing, and worthy of them to do.
