Spring Haircuts for Taggert & Jack

It rained most of the day Friday so I used the time to give Taggert and Jack their summer haircuts. Taggert's took forever so I didn't get to Dazzi. Another day.

    Taggert before

    Taggert after

Notice the stripe down his back

    Jack before

    Jack after

I am not very good with their faces - they won't stand still and so they get messed up pretty easy! Paid groomer I will never be!

You did really well! I would not have done that well shaving. (I must say your living room looks like my bedroom, full of crates and doggy beds. AWW what we do for our pups.) I just look your kids, put I have always been in love with Jack.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

Nice Job! Of course, I can recognize that Jack is an Airdale but what is Taggert? The black stripe on his back is adorable but I know he's not a skunk...haha All of your pups are beautiful.

Nice job!!! As one who must groom two poodles monthly I know the work that went into that. They both look terrific and they will feel so much better in the days ahead when it gets really warm. I am looking at two poodles right now who look quite neglected compared to Taggert and Jack.

I think you did a great job! They both look so handsome and sleek in the after pictures. I love the stripe down Taggert's back.

Taggert is suppose to be an airedale mix. As a puppy he looked a lot like an airedale pup but then he seemed to get more of that gray in his hair. I saw some schnauzer mixes out at the dog park and they looked like they could be siblings but Taggert was 2 years younger. He doesn't act much like a schnauzer and he is definitely a terrier in every way. The reason I did their haircuts now is as soon as it starts getting in a little warmer, Taggert starts panting like crazy. This time he stood so still and was so good (except for his face) that I knew he wanted all that hair off! And as soon as it was gone, he stopped panting all the time.

Jack is not cut like an airedale should with longer face hair and leg hair brushed out fluffy because he absolutely hates being brushed on his legs and face. That big dog cries and whines, barks and warn bites like you were killing him when you touch those areas. His toenails are ridiculous. I thought the groomers I was taking him to was cutting them and of course, with all that hair around them who could tell. They weren't and some were almost curled around. He is the biggest baby about that too. Between him and Carl (I'm not sure who cries worse when I do it) it's a tough thing to do.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I truly appreciate all the work groomers do - it is a very tough job and itchy one too!

Oh, and Phred, I use a different blade on Dazzi - she doesn't like her hair that short!

Good job! I love Taggert's stripe. Jack sounds like all the airedale's I've groomed....I've yet to meet one that would let me brush their legs or face without a fight.
