Angus was my heart. Just writing about missing him brings tears to my eyes.

I hate that the hurt never goes away. It does get easier though.

Add me to the bunch. I'm like Anna. The mere mention of Duke can bring tears to my eyes. It does get easier but it never goes away. Your post gave me LES. I hope you can find comfort that a lot of us know what you're going through. Life will never be the same but you can still find joy. And that makes you forget, if only for a few minutes.

But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

the rhythms of the house are different. i need an alarm clock, there is no soft bark to wake me, no morning company as i drink coffee and read the paper. this morning as i got ready for work, i sat down in the recliner and purposely watched the am news with marshall and mindy as we did so many saturday ams before i went to work and he went back to bed. this afternoon, it's sunny and cool, and eileen, peanut and i will go to the park, then for a coffee and i'll carry kleenex and dark glasses. my heart hurts, and i miss alex.

(((Hugs))) It is a real hurt ,felt in the deepest part of the heart.
We know & understand it. As others have said, it never goes away, but it
does ease with time. I still don't speak much of my Buddy, I just cannot do
it without tears. Prayers for comfort in your time of sadness & loss.

Same here, Joyce. In a few days it will be 9 months since we lost Sherman, and my heart aches every time I think about him being gone. The "surreal" edge wears off, but missing them never goes away. That's because love never ends.

I am so sorry to hear about Alex. RIP Alex and play hard at the bridge.

I smile at my pups when they are so contently asleep on the couch or big bed - safe, happy and warm.

Dear Joyce, I am so profoundly sorry for the loss of your beloved Alex. Oh how deep the void is, and nothing makes the hurt ebb away. It cuts so deep, and I can feel the depth of it in your words. I am holding you close in my thoughts and prayers.

Bless you dear Alex, for being the companion of a lifetime. Watch over your mom and siblings. Let them know you are close by and always will be.

I'm so sorry to hear of our loss. RIP Alex, you were and always will be loved.

Sadie always makes me smile when she does her wanna play pose - front paws stretched out with her butt up in the air and tail wagging. She'll do it at the times I most need it and I'm reminded that a bad mood is a waste of time.

I am so very sorry for your loss and not seeing the thread sooner. I don't visit PT much these days. Alex was such a special, dear soul and I do know how bad it hurts. My heart is with you during this difficult time. I hope you can start to smile at the memories and replace the tears of sadness with giggles from memories. I know you miss him, and you will always miss him, but the pain will slowly lift.

Rest in peace, Alex, and please say hi to my angel boy, Graham.

I'm so sorry I remember the feeling of receiving Duke's ashes and how I cried. In time, the hurt lessens. I hope the happy memories will be of comfort in the difficult days ahead.
