Introducing Teddy, my Teddy Bear Hamster :)

Hi Everyone, let me introduce Teddy, my Teddy Bear Hamster (another name for Syrian Hamster).
I've just got him today. He is 8 weeks old, long haired. I believe the colour is yellow but I'm not so sure, maybe hamster owners here can help me.
He has two white bands on his back as you can see from the picture.
I'm going to let Teddy get used to his new home before trying to handle him.
Snowy is very interested in Teddy but he is quite safe because his cage is quite high up.

sorry the pictures are not good, took them with my mobile. Will take proper ones once I can start handling him.

thank you for the link. Of all the colours listed there, yellow seems to be the closest one. He doesn't have black cheek flashes though, and his ears are not all black so perhpas his colouring is not up to the standard. Still think he looks gorgeous though

What colours are Whisk and Chino?

    Teddy says Hi!

Well, whatever colour he is, he sure is handsome

Looking again at the photos does he look anything like 'honey' (a colouring on that link)??

Whisk is a golden syrian and Chino is a... cream banded I think....

My boys say hi and welcome to Teddy

    Have you had hamsters before?

    Teddy is my first hamster.

I'm sure he is not honey because he has tickings and his eyes are not red.
He is similar to Whisk but lighter. Is there a light golden colour?
    what colour is Whisk's cheekflash?

Blue Dragonfly, don't worry, I shall make sure Snowy never touches Teddy.

    Whisk has black cheekflash....

Cinnamon? That is kinda like a lighter version of Whisk....

Not cinamon either because Teddy has tickings and his eyes are not red.

too bad there is no picture of rust hamsters.
the description of the ears sounds right - there is a hint of pink on both ears.
and he doesn't have black cheekflash like golden and yellow hamsters do.

just looked for rust hamsters. they look bright red, Teddy is certainly not that.
So far he looks mostly like the yellow hamsters but without the black cheekflash and he a hint of pink of both ears.

He is so cute! Best wishes with your first hamster.

I like the white markings on his back, in that second photo. It looks like he has a harness on and is ready for a walk! How sweet.

thank you. Now that you mention it, it does look like a harness
I shall give Teddy at least another 24 hours before I try to handle him.
He is still getting used to his new home I think.

    Thank you

He has settled in quite well in the last few days. I have started handling him now.
He is quite tame. The breeder must have started handling him since he was a little baby.

Here are a couple more pictures of Teddy.

    Being cute

Look how tiny he is in my hand.
